Reuniting Cheeta with his Ukrainian family in the UK

Animalcouriers recently helped with reuniting Cheeta with his Ukrainian family in the UK. This dear little dog and his family had a rather upsetting experience before Animalcouriers got involved, but we're pleased to say there was a happy ending. Cheeta and his family initially travelled with an unscrupulous Polish pet transporter who took no notice of the government rules on Ukrainian pets entering the UK. He popped the family and Cheeta into his van for one of his scheduled trips (the other pets complied with the rules for their journeys), and charged them quite a hefty sum for the [...]

Stop press: people fleeing Ukraine can now bring their pets to the UK

This blog post was updated on 21 April 2022. The UK government has put emergency support in place for people fleeing Ukraine so that they can now bring their pets to the UK. The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) issued a press release late yesterday, 15 March. Key points: The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is providing quick approvals to expedite the emergency licence process and quarantine arrangements. The government will cover the costs of any necessary stays in quarantine for the pets of those fleeing Ukraine, as well as the costs of microchipping and vaccination. [...]

The story of Emilio from Lisbon

We recently collected handsome Siamese cat Emilio from Lisbon and delivered him to his new home in Harrogate. The story behind Emilio's relocation is rather a sad one, which his family have invited us to share.Emilio was adopted by Rachael and Rob in Lisbon four years ago, when his original owner moved to China. Rachael and Rob adored Emilio, and he was central to their plans to move back to the UK from Portugal in 2020.Tragically, Rob passed away in September at the age of 31, shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Rachael moved back to the family home in North Yorkshire, and her mum, Linda, sprang into [...]

Pets fly to Kuwait, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia

Animalcouriers recently organised for pets to fly to Kuwait, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. Bridget the Midget to Kuwait On a wet morning in London, Animalcouriers met tiny Yorkshire Terrier Bridget and her owner Jody off the train from north-east England. We arranged for Bridget’s Defra export certificate to be completed, then her paperwork was whisked into London to be legalised by the Kuwaiti Embassy. Jody got in touch to say: "Legislation changes / documentation requirements etc, an absolute nightmare of paperwork to be sorted. I left all of this to the Animalcouriers team. No problems at all, and Bridget [...]

New Zealand arrivals: Lolita, Moss and Shuie

Animalcouriers recently arranged flights and paperwork for three adorable dogs heading to New Zealand: Lolita to Auckland, Moss to Christchurch, and Shuie to Wellington. Read on for their stories… Lolita from Spain Old English Sheepdog Lolita travelled with us from Spain to the UK just before Christmas, and has now flown to join her owners in Auckland. Lolita is a fine bouncy young dog, who has cheerfully taken everything in her stride. She spent Christmas and January at Burntwood Kennels, and Alfold Vets did her blood tests and paperwork. On arrival, she had to spend 10 days in quarantine before owners Joy and Mike could introduce [...]

Pets fly to far-flung destinations: Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, the Caribbean, Cyprus, Australia, the US, Argentina, Canada and Abu Dhabi

Pets relocating around Europe tend to travel by road (and sea) with Animalcouriers; for those travelling further afield, we can arrange air freight and help with import and export paperwork. Recent Asian destinations for some of our passengers include Singapore, Thailand  and Hong Kong. Handsome Labradoodle Thumper, his sidekick Vos, a Dachshund, and feline chums Bus and Biscuit flew to Singapore with BA. This family of four stayed at Haytor Kennels in Surrey while everything was prepared for their move. Vet on the Hill in Caterham took care of the export paperwork, and we worked with Mitchville, who organised the Singaporean import permits and delivered the pets [...]

We leave the UK with three cats; and start our trip back from Greece with 11 dogs, 11 cats, a Macaw and a Chinchilla on board

Couriers M and Mike recently set off on what will be our biggest-ever trip from Greece back to the UK. Luckily we have two vans, each with air conditioning, electrical airflow and comfy compartments for all the pets travelling with us. A few pets travelled out with us from the UK. Gorgeous Gaia and Lulu, a pair of cats who are almost impossible to tell apart, are moving with Eric to Italy. We dropped them at a cattery in Verona for Eric to collect on his arrival. Gaia gives us a wink Lulu has a fine 'milk [...]

Beau and Bingo get on board in Spain; Jim, Baxter and Woody join us in France

Animalcouriers collected Beagle Beau from her owner Moe in Marbella. Beau and Moe have enjoyed a lovely summer holiday together, and now it's time for both to return to the UK. Our final collection in Spain was Bingo, a lively, friendly young German Shepherd Dog. This cooperative fellow dived into his compartment without a backward glance. He's heading all the way to Belfast with Ariadne, who's relocating for work. We crossed into France and spent the night just outside Narbonne. This morning, Faith brought her handsome tuxedo cat, Jim, to join our trip. Jim is one of our most frequent [...]

Jet-setting cats and dogs take to the skies

Over the summer Animalcouriers has helped pets travel all over the world. Airfreight destinations have included Australia, Canada, Dubai, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Oman, Panama, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, the US and Zimbabwe. Here are some of their stories. Bouncy four-month-old Giant Schnauzer Max flew with BA to Bahrain. We collected this gorgeous pup from breeder Ferncliffe Schnauzers in Lancashire, and he homeboarded with us until his flight. Delmon Pets Relocators in Bahrain helped us with the paperwork. There was a slight hitch with Max’s move — when BA cargo-handling staff were loading him onto the aircraft, they went through their meticulous [...]

Channel hopping with Jimmie, Millie, Ellis, Dooby, Lluvia and Mikey

While couriers J and M completed their return trip from Portugal to the UK, courier Mike was kept busy with a number of short hops across the channel. Meryl's cats Jimmie and Millie were due to join an earlier trip from the UK to France, but a problem with their passports meant their travel was delayed. They stayed at a cattery while their owners went on ahead. Once the passports were sorted, Courier Mike collected them from East Sussex and drove them to their new home in the Lot. Amanda contacted Animalcouriers as she was struggling to get herself and [...]
