Tartan trips: pets travelling to and from Scotland

Here's a chance to catch up on some recent Animalcouriers trips with pets travelling to and from Scotland. Roger, Peggy and Patsy, 3 dogs from Dallas to Elgin We headed to Scotland with three delightful and well travelled hounds on board — Mastiff Roger and Patterdale Terriers Peggy and Patsy. Their journey had started a week earlier, when they set off from Texas to Chicago for their flight to Frankfurt with Lufthansa. In Chicago, a sudden heatwave put an embargo on dogs flying, so they had a short wait in kennels until the weather was cool enough for them to [...]

Reuniting families with pets making complex journeys

Since the start of the year we've been involved in reuniting families with pets making complex journeys. Some of these families have waited weeks or even months to see their beloved pets again. Archie, Suzia and Jasiu, 3 dogs from South Africa to the UK This fabulous family of three hounds flew from Johannesburg to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. We collected them at the airport's Pet Hotel for their onward journey to the UK and a happy reunion with Mark. Jack Russell Jasiu, Dachshund Archie and Cocker Spaniel Suzia Mark shared this great photo of his [...]

A spring-time round-up of pets on the move

Kate's handsome cat Harry made the journey with us from Scandinavia to Birmingham Dear little Maggie travelled with us from Cork… …to the UK, with cuddles at both ends of her trip! Lovely lad Pongo, who travelled from Germany to Wales with Animalcouriers Annette over the moon to receive her wonderfully lively Labradoodle puppy Petzi, who we transported from the UK to Luxembourg. Annette told us: "We just wanted to thank you for [...]

Behind the scenes at Animalcouriers — keeping pets on the move

Now that we've turned the page on the challenging year that was 2020, we thought we'd give you a sneak peak behind the scenes at Animalcouriers. It's also an opportunity for our directors to give a shout out to the whole team, who've shown phenomenal dedication, creativity and even courage to keep pets on the move. Our office team. When Covid struck, our office team — Lesley, Theresa and Natalie — had to become used to working from home. They've worked flat out, dealing with an increase in enquiries that often finds them at their desks in the evenings and [...]

Christmas crackers for six cats in Carcassonne

Almost the final special delivery of the year, Animalcouriers delivered six cats in Carcassonne. It was just in time for a happy Christmas reunion with their owners, who've relocated to France from Colchester in Essex. A lovely, laid-back group, the cats travelled well. Once settled in, their owners sent us some splendid photos of their so-called 'little monsters'. Pandemic-related restrictions have made it a challenging year for everyone — and uncertainty around the implications of Brexit has added to the complexity for many people. We've been impressed by our clients' patience, fortitude, and determination to do the right thing by [...]

Post-Brexit pet travel — Defra update

The information in this blog post has been superseded by the details in our post-Brexit travel page and Brexit travel FAQs page and the Defra website. On 16 December a Defra update was issued about post-Brexit pet travel. The good news is that the UK has been granted part 2 listed status by the EU. This means that dogs, cats and ferrets travelling to EU countries from the UK won't need a blood test and a three-month wait after a rabies vaccination. However, from 1 January 2021, UK-issued pet passports (issued under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) won't be recognised by [...]
