Reuniting families with pets making complex journeys

Since the start of the year we've been involved in reuniting families with pets making complex journeys. Some of these families have waited weeks or even months to see their beloved pets again. Archie, Suzia and Jasiu, 3 dogs from South Africa to the UK This fabulous family of three hounds flew from Johannesburg to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. We collected them at the airport's Pet Hotel for their onward journey to the UK and a happy reunion with Mark. Jack Russell Jasiu, Dachshund Archie and Cocker Spaniel Suzia Mark shared this great photo of his [...]

Two Maine Coon cats swap Los Angeles for Orkney

We helped two Maine Coon cats swap Los Angeles for Orkney. Owner Lis started to organise their move from Sacramento to Scotland last June. But the pandemic made it a stop-start process. The cats, Ike and Little Red, were booked to travel more than once, and each time their flights were cancelled. Lis made her move from the US to Orkney in November. In early January, we started working with her in another attempt to organise her cats' journey. Finally, after two postponements, Ike and Little Red touched down at London Heathrow in March. Animalcouriers collected them at the airport [...]

Repatriation flights to the Cayman Islands and Bermuda

Animalcouriers managed to get spaces on repatriation flights for three dogs to the Cayman Islands and three puppies to Bermuda. You can read their stories below, and enjoy a look back at some of the stories of other pets who flew to the Caribbean and the United States in the months before lockdown. Storm, Sadie and Myla from South Africa to the Cayman Islands Claire’s dogs Storm, Sadie and Myla travelled from South Africa to the UK in January, where they stayed for three months before meeting the Cayman Islands’ strict entry requirements. Poor Claire thought her plans for an [...]

Pets in the air to worldwide destinations

2020 got off to a flying start with pets in the air to worldwide destinations. But we'd only just got Labradoodle Willow away to Melbourne, and frequent flyer Millie to southern Spain for her annual stay, when Covid-19 (coronavirus) struck, and most travel was put on hold as countries went into lockdown. Rocky, a dog from the UK to the Cayman Islands Just before the Cayman Islands shut down, we worked with Aimee of Must Love Dogs to get lovely Labrador Rocky onto the last scheduled BA flight from London to Cayman. Rocky homeboarded with Must Love Dogs until his family [...]

To Greece with a canary, and back to the UK with cats and dogs

Animalcouriers travelled to Greece with a canary, and back to the UK with cats and dogs, all of whom will be with their families in time for Christmas. Paris, a canary from London to Greece We were pleased to have little canary Paris on board for company during the journey from the UK to Greece. Paris, who hailed from London, was our only passenger — much to the amazement of the port officials during border inspections! Friendly, sunshine-coloured canary Paris Our colleague Akis met us when we arrived in Greece to take Paris home to his family [...]

Cats and dogs by air from Greece to the UK

Courier J flew to Athens with couriers Mary and Vicki to bring cats and dogs by air from Greece to the UK. At our hotel in Athens, a new litter of stray kittens had appeared since the last time we stayed. This little one soon caught on to the idea of sharing bits of our breakfast. Romeo, Tabitha and Nala from Lesvos Anne Marie adopted this litter of three kittens during a recent trip to Lesvos. Now they're on their way to join her at their new UK home. Handsome Romeo — his sisters were rather camera [...]

From Greece with dogs and cats travelling to the UK by air and road

We drove to Greece to meet dogs and cats travelling to the UK by air and road. We split the trip between plane and van as so many animals were on the move. Many of our passengers were beloved family pets; others were strays and rescues going to new homes in the UK. First, let's meet the pets travelling by road. Our specially designed vans are quite modular, so we can reorganise and resize bedrooms depending on the number, size and type of pets travelling with us. Here are couriers Shane and Glenn showing off their assembly skills. [...]

Pets flying to Australia, Bahrain, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dubai, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Singapore

As well as our regular road routes all over Europe, Animalcouriers organises flights and paperwork for pets flying to destinations further afield. Here's a round-up of some of the pets we've helped reach their faraway homes over the past few months. Alfie We collected Rhodesian Ridgeback pup Alfie in Edinburgh and brought him south to stay with couriers M and L, ahead of his BA flight from London Heathrow to Grand Cayman. Nails were bitten to the quick as his rabies blood test got held up in the Christmas post. It turned up at the 11th hour, so he was [...]

Jack from Liberia; and a round-up of recent short trips

Animalcouriers recently helped Ben manage the final stage of bringing his adopted dog Jack from Liberia to the UK. We thought too it was good moment to catch you up on a few short trips our couriers have recently undertaken. We also have news of a couple of past passengers to share. Jack from Liberia When evolutionary biologist Ben (@Ben_garrod) was filming for the BBC in Liberia, he fell in love with a gorgeous little stray dog called Jack, and decided to adopt him and bring him to the UK. Not the easiest undertaking, but fortunately Ben is friends with [...]

Flying to Greece, driving to Wales

Things were pretty hectic for Animalcouriers in January. Highlights include couriers J and M flying to Greece, and courier Paul driving to France and Switzerland. But first, a report from a trip to Wales with courier Richard. Aragorn, Envy and The Hound The intriguing pet trio belongs to Jane, who's relocated from Bangor in North Wales to Southampton. Aragorn, named after one of the main 'Lord of the Rings' protagonists, is a dapper tuxedo cat. Envy is a Skink — a type of lizard; and The Hound is a Hognose Snake. We collected them from Jane's sister, Kyla, who'd been [...]
