Animalcouriers drove from Athens to the port of Igoumenitsa to catch the ferry to the Italian port of Brindisi.
We then headed to Rome to meet Gennaro and his cat Whiskey. Gennaro has lived all his life around Rome and Naples but now, at 90 years young, is off to live with his son and his partner, Irene, in the UK. Whiskey is going on ahead, and will be waiting to greet Gennaro when he arrives.

Pretty Pouca manages to leap about very gracefully on her three legs. Eugenia tells us that Pouca was found, aged two months, having been hit by a car and left to die. The girl who found her took her to the vet, who did the surgery to amputate her leg and tail, and nursed her back to health, free of charge. When Eugenia took her dog to the vet, she saw Pouca, heard her story, and immediately offered to adopt her.
I was puzzled first and thought the cat is a lion, it looked giant in your first photo LOL I bet after this chat about all the fabulous things he will see in London, Hector is happy to be there soon :o)
Ha ha – it is a very odd perspective. Whiskey most certainly has leonine qualities but not size 😀 Hector has just about accepted the adventure 😉
I was also initially thrown by the first photo, then realized it was the perspective from which it was taken! Yes, Gennaro looks quite young for 90!
Pouca is quite a lucky kitty, and that vet who took care of her for free is an angel!
Colored hive boxes. One beekeeper here told me it helps him keep track of individual hives, and he also admitted to painting flowers on some of his boxes, just for fun. 🙂
It was a very odd perspective – wouldn’t it be wonderful to look as youthful as that 😀
Pouca is a lovely as she’s lucky.
Are they scratch and sniff flowers? 😉
I hope I look as well as Gennaro does if I ever hit 90! 🙂 Safe journey to you all !
Wouldn’t it be wonderful 😀
Good Whiskey gets a lift ahead of Gennaro. Pouca is a lucky kitty. The City of Albuquerque has a program that allows people to take injured animals to a vet and they will try to save the animals and adopt them out. My programer hit a cat that ran in front of his truck one night last year. He called me late at night to see what to do. Since I live in another Village, I told him to take it to one of the emergency clinics. Another friend then told him about the City’s program, and he took the kitty to a participating clinic. After a couple of surgeries and a couple of months recovery, a friend of ours adopted the kitty. She is the same person we got Spunk from. After Spunk showed up at her door, the kitty that had been hit by my programmer wouldn’t have anything to do with him, so we took him, and he’s been a real blessing. Jim looks like he is having a great time in the sun.
The Albuquerque (hard to type that!) programme sounds wonderful. On the Greek islands it’s quite something to come across a vet who can afford the luxury of free treatment and aftercare. It must feel like karma that Spunk came to you – such a talented photographer after all 😉
Poor Hector – he must be missing his people! Greece is an amazing place isn’t it – love the thought of digging a trench and hitting a ruin 🙂 This is an eclectic bunch of travellers for sure!
Hector is very stoic! Must be a little worrying if you have any building projects 😉
We certainly miss our three boys (Hector, Iason and Ririkos) tremendously and very much look forward to seeing and hugging them next Wednesday in London. However, we are glad that they are in good hands! Safe journeys!

Bilia’s wink-like pic is fun!

Yup, Gennaro is quite something! Don’t worry, Whiskey is really a normal size kitteh 😀
I want to hug Hector.
You’ll have to hug his bottom as he just doesn’t like facing his public 😉
It’s fuzzy enough for me. I’ll take it.
How brave starting a new life at ninety years young; I wish him and Whiskey the very best
It is quite something but we suspect they’re both up for it!
Whiskey is a very handsome cat, but all your passengers are lovely.
Whiskey and Gennaro are a great couple.
So many wonderful pics, people and pets! Jim looks like he knows how to enjoy the sunshine!
