Limpet joins us in Nice; Snoopy, Billy and Charlie get on board in Toulouse

As Animalcouriers headed through Italy from Ancona towards Genoa, we found ourselves passing lots of heavy snow deposits. Concerned at the amount of snow around, we decided to keep going until we’d got past it all to avoid any holdups. So it was into the wee small hours when we reached the southern French city of Nice, and found our hotel next to the airport. The hotel kindly ‘impounded’ our van in their secure staff car park while we and our passengers got some well deserved rest.

We woke to a cool but beautiful morning and, once walks and breakfasts were done, we went to meet Graham in Nice. His fantastically named cat Limpet has joined us for his journey to Elgin in Scotland, where Graham’s brother is looking forward to welcoming him.

From Nice we continued west to the Narbonne area where we spent the night with friends. This morning saw us in Toulouse where we collected handsome Dalmation Snoopy and his feline companions Billy and Charlie. These three firm friends are relocating to Bristol, where their owners’ work with Airbus has taken them.

Narla could be related with Sammy :o) and Daisy could be a cousin of Doc… Have a safe rip, the roads can be sneaky ….

Wouldn’t Narla & Sammy be quite the pair! Yes, Doc and Daisy would make another great couple too!

Good idea to keep going with all that snow, excellent to hear that it didn’t hold up the journey for you and your charges πŸ™‚
I didn’t know that Ginger cats were usually Toms… so I learned something from this post too πŸ™‚

We were once holed up at a hotel for five days by the snow and don’t ever want that to happen again πŸ™

Limpet! What a wonderful name! I was so curious as to what animal might have that moniker. It suits!

    • Animalcouriers February 9, 2015 at 9:56 am - Reply

We think Limpet might be the best name yet – have to think about that as a competition…

I’m with you on that one, best name ever. Even before I read that you liked it so much!

Such great pictures. We are covered in snow here, I never really got to experience Italian snow since I was right in the center of Rome. So pretty to see, just not always fun to deal with πŸ™‚

We’ve experienced snow in Italy rather too often πŸ˜‰

Peabody has a wonderful front assembly. Great shoulders, too. Hope he does well at Crufts! British dog shows are much more competitive than ours.

    Fubsy. My new favorite word.

    • Animalcouriers February 10, 2015 at 6:16 pm - Reply

Everything about Peabody is rather special, including his personality. We too wish him huge luck at Crufts… It is a rather seriously competitive event! Fubsy is one of our all time favourite words even if spell check doesn’t believe it exists πŸ˜‰

Is it my imagination, or do you seem to have larger groups for your travels these days? I kept thinking, how do they possiblly keep up with everyone? I guess maybe they come and go very quickly, but it seems an awesome responsibility! I LOVE these pictures and the souls I see in their eyes…amazing. Thanks so much for the stories…safe travels in the snow! πŸ™‚

    • Animalcouriers February 10, 2015 at 6:17 pm - Reply

You are indeed right – the size of our vans just gets bigger and bigger πŸ˜‰ There is however a limit to how many animals two couriers can cope with so the passenger list is always kept under control. So glad you enjoy the stories!

yet another fine collection of dogs and cats. Charlie and Silva stole my heart this time — can you tell I’m partial to black and white pets?

ROFL!!! Only a couple more days…I told my husband omg I’m getting cold feet, can we do it?! He of course reassured me, “we are committed now” (our faces are in the tea towels now kind of thing) but you know…it’s going to be totally worth it. As soon as I see his little face all my reservations will evaporate.

That’s a lot of lovely passengers this trip. I expect the dogs would have enjoyed a quick game in the snow, but I’m sure the cats were pleased you kept moving!

    • Animalcouriers February 10, 2015 at 6:03 pm - Reply

Yes, we suspect you’re right Clowie – we just didn’t dare stop in the snow in case we got stuck πŸ™

That’s a lot of snow in Italy…brrr…must be colder than here. We enjoyed all the cute faces of the passengers πŸ™‚ Pawkisses for a safe journey πŸ™‚ <3

Yes, it probably is a lot colder than with you, especially up north and in the mountains. Glad you don’t have snow LB πŸ˜‰
