Animalcouriers is just back from collecting Ukrainian pets in Poland and Germany for their journeys to the UK. Also on board were a dog and two cats relocating from Estonia to the UK.
Viva! in Warsaw
We travelled out from the UK with pet food donations for Viva!, an organisation that’s doing amazing work supporting Ukrainian pets as they arrive in Poland. We dropped the supplies off in Warsaw before heading to Estonia. The lovely team from Viva! Poland said:
“Big big thanks to Animalcouriers who donated a big van full of dog and cat food this morning. It will quickly be distributed to refugee points mainly across Warsaw. They drove from England to the Viva! Poland Warsaw offices!!! 1,000 miles. The kindness of people is very heartening in these times.”

Evie, Smokey and Bandit, 3 pets from Estonia to the UK
After dropping off the pet food in Warsaw, we headed to Estonia. Matt is relocating back to the UK and asked us to transport his delightful pets. We met King Charles Spaniel Evie and Siamese cats Smokey and Bandit in Harjumaa for their journey to Bristol via a short stay at Burntwood Kennels in Surrey.

Back to Poland for more pet collections
After collecting Evie, Smokey and Bandit, we returned to Poland to collect pets belonging to Ukrainian refugees.

Soloman, a cat from Poland to the UK
Our first collection in Warsaw was Soloman, a gorgeous ginger and white puss belonging to Katya.

A proper send-off for Soloman

Oscar, a cat from Poland to the UK
Handsome tabby cat Oscar belongs to Katya, who handed him over to us in Warsaw.

Tubik and Ilia, 2 cats from Germany to the UK
From Warsaw we headed to Berlin, where Max and Iana’s beloved cats Tubik and Ilia were waiting to join our trip to the UK and a reunion with their family in London.

Tubik and Ilia have been in the care of the Mihok family, who were on hand to see the cats away

Ilia is such a good-looking puss

Tubik is equally charming but somewhat camera shy

Max wrote to say: “Thank you everyone, cats and kids are happy” — and sent these super photos to prove it

It’s good to hear about human kindness in these times.
A small antidote to everything else going on.
It makes my heart happy to see people and their pets making it to safety – much of it because Animal Couriers truly cares. SO VERY SPECIAL.
Hugs, Pam
It does make us all so happy!
People often forget what animals go through in war.
Will you be bringing any rescue animals to the U.S.?
Luckily they’re being covered well in the media so it is hard to forget at the moment. We can get the pets to airports and arrange flights to the US but sadly can’t bring them 😉
Wonderful story and photos.
Thanks Jovina.
Bless your generous hearts.
These stories are awesome, and we love you even more for what you’re doing in the Ukraine for all creatures great and small.
Love and hugs
Thank you Sheila. It’s such a relief to be able to start helping!
Heartwarming while a bit heartbreaking at the same time. You (Annie and the rest of the gang) are simply angles!
Yes, heartbreaking too. We’re doing what we can but it does seem to be the tip of the iceberg…
That was very nice of you and many other people to help out those pets.
Everyone is going beyond on this. Heart warming to see the scramble to provide help.
