Reuniting Tosca, and drawing a pet-friendly crowd in Spain

Animalcouriers crossed into Spain where our first stop was El Vendrell in Catalonia to reunite gorgeous cat Tosca with his owner Xavier. Tosca declined to show his face for a goodbye photo — but Xavier wasn't at all surprised, explaining that Tosca is 'very shy.' We then headed straight to a garage as our van's air conditioning had become a little temperamental towards the end of the previous day. As is always the case, our passengers aroused great interest, and in no time the mechanics were pulling out their smartphones to show us photos of their own pets. The boss [...]

Crouton the rabbit relocates from South Africa to the UK

When Nicola and her family decided to move from South Africa to Dorset in England, they didn't realise how difficult (and expensive) it would be to bring their pet rabbit Crouton to the UK along with their dog and cat. It was going to cost over £2,500 and involve complicated paperwork. So they wrote and asked us about alternative ways to send Crouton to the UK via mainland Europe. A route was organised via Amsterdam with the help of Duncan Harmse at Petwings SA and Linda at VCK Logistics in Amsterdam. But the challenges weren't yet over. When Crouton was handed to the KLM [...]

Reunions for Pip and Tigger in France; and for Arya, Lulu, Biscuit, Timmy, Moomin and Giacomo in Italy

After a long day on the road, Animalcouriers found a lovely Logis at Vaison la Romaine in Provence, where we stayed the night. The next morning, our first stop was in Antibes, to reunite Pip and Tigger with Rob and Helen. Both dogs were hugely pleased to see Rob who walked up the hill to meet us. We then crossed the border into Italy to reunite Labradoodle Arya with Stephanie and Luke. Last year Arya flew from Italy to England but nearly didn't make the plane as the cargo-handlers at Venice airport decided that the number of suitcases mean there was no [...]

UK reunions for Ziollo, Meiow Meiow, Odie and Baboushka; and Jack makes a new friend

The last stop for Animalcouriers on the trip back from Portugal was at a working wine domaine near Auxerre, in the Burgundy region of France. Couriers J and M immersed themselves in the table d'hôte experience and enjoyed tasting the fantastic wines produced at the domaine: a rosé to start, a crisp white to accompany the artisan meat pie, a pinot noir with the main, and a spicier version with pudding. The family who run the domaine invited us to park our van and walk the dogs within the vintners yard. They watched over us as we prepared the pets [...]

Happy reunions in Spain for Baby, Byron, Pluto, Mr Bojangles, PJ, Belle, Arfa and Poppy

After spending the night near Narbonne, Animalcouriers crossed the border into Spain where our first stop was to deliver gorgeous ginger tabby cat Baby in Barcelona. Then it was on to Madrid to reunite chatty grey cat Byron and Basset Hound Pluto with their respective owners. In Arroyo de la Miel, we reunited Clare with her beloved black-and-white cat Mr Bojangles. On the Mijas Costa, there was much excitement and dashing about when we delivered Westies PJ and Belle to their family. Grandma Ann, who'd seen them off in Aberdeenshire, was on hand to complete the circle. There was the [...]

A French reunion for Scrumpy, Sirius and Throttle

This feline trio reached their new South of France home yesterday, where they were warmly greeted by their owners, John and Janet. A special room has been set up for the cats to start their acclimatisation to their new environment. Next, they'll have the run of the house, and finally, once they're fully settled in, the great outdoors will be theirs to explore. And what a lovely outdoors it is. The family has moved to a beautiful valley near Marseille where John and Janet plan to turn a lifelong hobby into a business — running gites alongside an astronomy centre. [...]

Collections in Scotland: PJ and Belle heading to Spain; and Teko and Lola relocating to Surrey and South Wales

Animalcouriers delivered the six cats from Cyprus — Aslan, Boo, Pepper, Scat, Mia and Kara — to their temporary cattery in the Durham area, then continued north into Scotland. We reunited personal protection dog Omar with his family in South Lanarkshire, and delivered young Dolly to her ecstatic new owners at their picturesque home in Fife. The first passengers to join us on the journey back down south were PJ and Belle. These two lovely characters will be travelling all the way to Spain with us to join their owners, Lesley and David, on the Mijas Costa. PJ and Belle [...]

UK reunions for Bunch, Boxoh, Bilia and Dusty

Animalcouriers reunited the irrepressible Bunch with his owner, Lorenzo, in Winchester. They'd been apart for two months, so were understandably very pleased to see each other! There was an equally rapturous welcome for Boxoh and Bilia from their owners Lila and her family, at their new home in Basingstoke. Meanwhile, Lisa called in at our Surrey base to collect Dusty. This lovely puss has been a complete star, seeming to enjoy the attentions of two resident pet-loving youngsters. Pug Bunch, obeying Lorenzo's instruction to look at the camera The inseparable Bilia and Boxoh with Lila [...]

Bibi and Odin are reunited in Switzerland, and Ruben, Hugo, Red and Jim arrive in France

After reuniting cats Fleur and Mittens with their owners, Mike and Debbie, in Normandy, we drove into Switzerland to deliver Bibi and Odin to Alan and his family. It was hard to say who was more excited at the reunion — humans or dogs! Then it was back into France to drop handsome trio Ruben, Hugo and Red at Le Jardin des Chats, a super cattery in the Montpellier area, where they'll have a short stay until their owner Susan catches up with them. And we left Gentleman Jim with mutual friends, for collection by his owner Faith. The next day, with [...]

Safe homecomings in the UK for Bob, Ben, Missy and Mabel; and Pica and Trebol

Dave and Christine's family of four, dogs Bob and Ben, and cats Missy and Mabel, recently travelled with us from Nerja in Spain to Lincolnshire in the UK. Christine wrote to let us know all four arrived in good spirits: "Our gang are settling in at the new home. They all look in good health and I just wish they could tell me of their adventures en route to get here. Bob and Ben can't believe they have a nice big garden of their own and have been going in and out all afternoon. They have also been for a [...]
