Jet-setting cats and dogs take to the skies

Over the summer Animalcouriers has helped pets travel all over the world. Airfreight destinations have included Australia, Canada, Dubai, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Oman, Panama, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, the US and Zimbabwe. Here are some of their stories. Bouncy four-month-old Giant Schnauzer Max flew with BA to Bahrain. We collected this gorgeous pup from breeder Ferncliffe Schnauzers in Lancashire, and he homeboarded with us until his flight. Delmon Pets Relocators in Bahrain helped us with the paperwork. There was a slight hitch with Max’s move — when BA cargo-handling staff were loading him onto the aircraft, they went through their meticulous [...]

Fobius flies to Bahrain; Georgie and Leo hit France; Archie, Heidi, Betty and Rocky head north; and UK reunions for Carriça, Diesel and Lexi

Handsome hound Fobius from the Filozoikos Shelter in Athens, Greece, has found a loving new home in Bahrain. Fobius spent a few months in the UK for his travel preparations to be completed, then homeboarded with Animalcouriers the night before his flight. Courier R got up early to drive him to the airport, and he's now on his way to join his excited new owners. Courier H drove Dachshunds Georgie and Leo, who hail from the Isle of Wight, to their French summer holiday destination in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, near Nice. They went completely bananas when they caught sight of [...]

Rips travels from Norway to Scotland; and Ben is on his way to the UK

Rips, a very glamorous black-and-white puss, became a transport veteran in a single 24-hour period, travelling by car, plane, bus, van and train. Her journey started in Bergen in Norway; from there she flew to Amsterdam with her owner. Animalcouriers drove to Amsterdam to meet Rips from the plane, while her owner flew on to Aberdeen. By 9am yesterday Rips and courier S were on their way to Calais to catch the Eurotunnel but, about 25 miles from the terminal, the motorway traffic ground to a halt. Eurotunnel was closed, owing to trespassers setting fire to tyres on the track. [...]

Crouton the rabbit relocates from South Africa to the UK

When Nicola and her family decided to move from South Africa to Dorset in England, they didn't realise how difficult (and expensive) it would be to bring their pet rabbit Crouton to the UK along with their dog and cat. It was going to cost over £2,500 and involve complicated paperwork. So they wrote and asked us about alternative ways to send Crouton to the UK via mainland Europe. A route was organised via Amsterdam with the help of Duncan Harmse at Petwings SA and Linda at VCK Logistics in Amsterdam. But the challenges weren't yet over. When Crouton was handed to the KLM [...]

Bridie flies to Bermuda, birdies take off for the British Virgin Islands

Animalcouriers recently arranged for Cockerpoo puppy Bridie to travel from the UK to her new home in Bermuda. This gorgeous, silky young girl homeboarded with us for a few days while her import and export paperwork was finalised, and provided to be a delightful, demure house guest! Her owner let us know Bridie arrived, saying: "The little lady arrived safely, she is absolutely beautiful and full of energy. She is eating and quite happy as she zooms around the house with her new favourite toys! Thank you so much for facilitating transporting her." We also organised air travel for a [...]

Channel hopping with Jimmie, Millie, Ellis, Dooby, Lluvia and Mikey

While couriers J and M completed their return trip from Portugal to the UK, courier Mike was kept busy with a number of short hops across the channel. Meryl's cats Jimmie and Millie were due to join an earlier trip from the UK to France, but a problem with their passports meant their travel was delayed. They stayed at a cattery while their owners went on ahead. Once the passports were sorted, Courier Mike collected them from East Sussex and drove them to their new home in the Lot. Amanda contacted Animalcouriers as she was struggling to get herself and [...]

Aslan, Boo, Pepper, Scat, Mia and Kara flew in from North Cyprus to London Heathrow. This family of six cats are now on their way to Durham, in the north of England, with Animalcouriers. They'll stay at a cattery for a few days until their owners arrive to collect them. Also on board is Omar, a handsome German Shepherd Dog from South Lanarkshire. Trained as a personal protection dog for his owner and her family. Following a refresher course with K9 Protector near Bath, this beautifully behaved boy is now on his way home to Scotland. Taking off from the UK for Australia: Doodledogs Bella and Louie, and Timmy the cat

Animalcouriers recently arranged for lovely Labradoodle Louie and beautiful Goldendoodle Bella to fly to Perth, Australia from East Sussex. Their owners had to return to Australia before the dogs were eligible to enter the country. Dogs must have a series of blood tests before travelling to Australia, including one for rabies at least 180 days before the date of travel. So Bella and Louie stayed for six months at the wonderfully named Slugwash Kennels & Cattery near Haywards Heath, while Coastway Vets took care of the blood tests and treatments, and Animalcouriers arranged the paperwork and flights. Bella and Louie flew with [...]

Jake, Bob, Minnie and Polly swap snowy Doncaster for sunny Australia

When Debra and family decided to head home to Australia, they were definitely not leaving their two dogs and two cats behind in the UK. These much loved pets are somewhat senior travellers — the cats, Polly and Minnie, are 15 and 14 years old respectively; and Bob the dog is also 14. Jake the terrier is quite the baby of the bunch at just seven years old. Animalcouriers arranged their flights and the pets spent 10 days in quarantine at Eastern Creek, Sydney. From there they flew via Adelaide to Port Lincoln in South Australia, where the family has [...]

Rigsby takes off for sun, sea and sand in Cyprus, while young JR heads to his new home in Los Angeles

Animalcouriers arranged for handsome 13-year-old hound Rigsby to fly to Northern Cyprus. He took off from Manchester in the snow, and arrived in wonderful Cypriot sunshine. His owners report that he was beside himself with joy on being reunited with them — "his whole body wagged and wagged!" said Suzanna, adding: "Thank you again for helping us bring Rigsby over to Cyprus for his retirement. You can see from the photos how much he is enjoying his new life." We also organised for gorgeous young lop-eared rabbit JR to fly from the UK to Los Angeles. Just 12 weeks old, [...]
