We just popped back to the blog to wish all our friends and followers a happy, healthy Christmas from Animalcouriers. Although our office is closed, we still have couriers on the road, helping to ensure pets and their families are together for the festive season.
A look back over 2021
The year hasn’t been without its challenges, as the pandemic continued to affect so many aspects of everyone’s lives. At the same time, we also had to deal with the administrative impacts of Brexit.
As always, though, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting wonderful pets and their families, and the privilege of enabling many happy reunions. Here’s a tiny sample of the animals we’ve transported (and a few adventures we had) during 2021.
Tiger and Jezebel
These two dogs were among our first post-Brexit passengers, travelling from the UK to the Netherlands. We loved their pet passport photos!
Collie pup Dash
Adorable Collie pup Dash travelled with us aged just 10 weeks, on his way to a working life as a sheepdog in Yorkshire.
Miranda from Greece
Beautiful Miranda was stolen from the shelter in Greece just before we arrived; and a massive search failed to find her. Fortunately, she was mysteriously returned just before we set off for the UK.
Luigi and Gigi, award-winning Pointer breeders
We collected 11 splendid German Shorthaired Pointer puppies from award-winning breeders Luigi and Gigi in Italy.
Sawnoff, Champagne Charlie and Red Sue
This gorgeous trio of cats travelled with us all the way from the Outer Hebrides to Denmark for a reunion with owner Lorraine.
Bleecker and Biggles
A Ragdoll duo, who made the trip with us from Germany to Scotland to rejoin owner Andrew.
Regular traveller Mycroft
Much loved mini-Schnauzer Mycroft is a regular Animalcouriers passenger, as he splits his time between Tom in London and Christina in Amsterdam.
Tyler, who waited 5 months for his family reunion
Charming Collie Tyler had a long wait before he could fly from Israel to Amsterdam, where we collected him for his journey to Newcastle and an ecstatic family reunion.
Leo, who had to make way for Covid vaccines
Rhodesian Ridgeback Leo was booked to fly with BA direct from London Heathrow to the Cayman Islands, but had to make way for a consignment of Covid vaccines being shipped to the islands. So we found him an alternative route with a stopover in Miami.
The world’s largest collection of whiskies
On a trip south from Scotland we stayed at the Glenesk Hotel, at the foot of the Angus Glens. It holds the record for the largest number of commercially available whiskies in a bar.
On a trip through France, we found a stunned baby squirrel by the side of the road, in danger of being run over. We scooped it up, gave it time to recover, then encouraged it gently back up the tree.
A duck called Wade
Wade travelled with Animalcouriers from France to the UK a few years ago, and this year travelled back to France with us.
Family of 4 from Rome to Barcelona
Vodka, Whity, Agage and Tequila are among the many rescued pets who live with Fabian and his wife. When they moved from Rome to Barcelona, they managed to transport most of the pets themselves, but asked us to transport these four gentle giants on their behalf.
It just remains for us to wish you a healthy and happy Christmas — hoping everyone stays safe — and to send our best wishes for 2022. We hope to see many of you back here on our blog over the course of next year as we share stories of our trips and the pets who travel with us.
