Couriers J and M recently made a couple of short trips with dogs from France and Italy. On one trip, there was the drama of a baby squirrel rescue. And in parallel, courier Trevor transported a duck and his owner from the UK to France.
Baby squirrel rescue
Courier M found a stunned-looking baby squirrel by the road outside our hotel, in danger of being run over.

Stunned by the side of the road

Realising it had probably fallen out of a nest in a tree, he scooped it up in a clean cat litter tray, where it soon came round

With some gentle encouragement from courier M, the baby squirrel clambered back up the tree, apparently none the worse for wear
Poppea and Picoleone, 2 dogs from Italy to London
Our first stop was to collect Rosemary and Robert’s delightful pair of Shih-tzus for their journey from Todi in Umbria to London.

Poppea and Picoleone (Poppa and Pico to their friends)

Todi looking very glamorous by night

Beautiful stone-walled houses

We love these crunchy Italian pastries — sfogliatelia
A bit of time in Nice
On our way to Monaco to meet Muffin, we spent a night in Nice.

We strolled with Poppa and Pico through the town

What a charming and well behaved pair!

We all enjoyed walking on the promenade and watching the bathers

Muffin, a dog from Monaco to England
Darling Maltipoo Muffin belongs to Marina, who is Gustav Mahler’s granddaughter. She is rightly proud of her grandfather, and refers to Muffin as his great grandchild!
Like his family, Muffin splits his time between homes in Monaco and London. Over coffee with Marina, we collected Muffin for his journey to London.

As did we!

On the way back, we stopped at a Logis overnight, where Muffin enjoyed being royally spoiled by the staff as well as by us
Duke a dog from Italy to Wales
Cocker Spaniel Duke and Teckel Blue were both due to travel with us on earlier trips, but problems with paperwork meant they both got held up.
We caught up with Duke in Tuscany for his journey to Wrexham in Wales and a reunion with owner Carole.

What a gorgeous fellow Duke is

Blue, a dog from Switzerland to the UK
From Italy we travelled on to Lausanne in Switzerland to collect Teckel Blue for his road trip to the UK.

A view over Lac Leman, which straddles the French-Swiss border

We encountered changeable weather, as you can see from these glowering skies over the lake

Ducks on the water

Happy hugs as Blue is reunited with his family in the UK
Wade, a duck from the UK to France
Wade (geddit?) the duck is a returning Animalcouriers client. We collected him in the Savoie region of France a few years ago for his journey to the UK. So when owner Suzanne was planning her return to France, she contacted us about transporting Wade again.
Because of the changes in border regulations since Wade last travelled with us, we decided the simplest course of action was for Suzanne to accompany him (and his elaborate paperwork) on the journey.

A delighted Suzanne with Wade, on their safe arrival at their French destination

A closer look at handsome Wade
Happy people and pets AND beautiful scenery in the photos today……special kudos to Courier M for helping the baby squirrel before a sad scenario took place for the little thing!! Wade the world traveling duck – well – he’s lucky for sure!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
It was great that Courier M could give the little one a helping hand. Wade’s a hoot!
Lovely posts,so interesting with great photos. I always enjoy reading about you since you delivered my handsome Charlie (was Muffin) to me from Lesvos in 2017 via Wild at Heart Foundation
Hi Anne, lovely to hear from you! How is Charlie? In clover up to the tip of his ears no doubt 😀
Beautiful photos. What a darling squirrel. Thank you M for encouraging the squirrel to get back into the tree.
Thanks Tim. Everyone was much relieved once he was scampering up the tree again.
I would love those Italian pastries.
Perhaps we love them too much 😀
Absolutely one of my favorites!
The tidbit on Gustav Mahler quite interesting to a fan of his work.
Of course, the pictures of every one of the animals makes me smile – I think I would so enjoy all of your kind couriers!
Great scenery, too and the pastries – oolala!
Thanks so much for the uplift today.
It’s great to occasionally have an interesting link to pass on. The pastries… dangerous!
Oh! Goodness! A squirrel rescue and even a duck! Wow! You folks just do it all. I’m sure it’s no surprise that seeing Muffin nearly broke my heart! Yesterday’s beach walk was the first time there without Sissy doing her mad dashes across the sand…
Did I mention that those lovely skies over the lake were gorgeous? Seems you have it all…. such lovely critters and heavenly scenery to boot. Can’t forget the Italian pastries.
We did have some fun things to share. A good trip all round.
You do get to see a variey of animals. I’m so glad that squirrel rescue worked out – it looked so cute!
It was a fun trip with lots of interest.
That was a pawsome and stunning sidetrip, Annie. What a cute little squirrel, glad he’s saved! I think that moth needs a boxwood…MOL…Pawkisses for a safe trip ahead to all of you 🙂 ♥
Ha, we’d be in such trouble if we’d introduced the moth to a boxwood! Naughty girl 😀
We want to Thank you for your Birthday wishes for Me and My Granny, Annie, they warmed our heart and brightened up our day Extra Pawkisses just for you
Well done, M, on rescuing the little squirrel. I wish there were more people like you in the world!
So much cuteness in one post
Didn’t he do a lovely thing!
