Animalcouriers travelled to Italy to collect 11 Pointer pups from Pesaro, all heading to families in the UK. The puppies were bred by Luigi and Gigi, who love the German Shorthaired Pointer breed and are devoted to their dogs. All that love and devotion shine through — the mother of these puppies was a Crufts winner in her category last year, and all the pups were absolutely delightful.
As are Luigi and Gigi themselves, who were super welcoming towards our couriers, Shane and Ryan. Shane told us:
“Luigi and his family were outstanding. The place itself was 5 star and the organisation in regards to paperwork and quality of dogs was second to none. What a credit to them all, and a big thank you to Gigi who invited us in for a traditional Italian lunch, which was out of this world and all home made. Their hospitality and welcoming attitude were amazing — all I can say is a big thank you 🙏 and I would recommend you and the breed to anyone!”

Aren’t they gorgeous.
What good looking pointers.
A very impressive heritage.
Those are beautiful pointers, and your recognition well deserved!
No wonder Luigi & Gigi are so proud!
They’re lovely!
Your title is a bit of a tongue twister – try saying it three times fast! 😀
We couldn’t resist it!
You did a brilliant job bringing our puppy over from Italy. Thank you to everyone that helped make the trip go so smoothly. Your help and advice was greatly appreciated.
Thanks Katie — all settled in well? It was a pleasure to travel with all the gorgeous pups!
These puppies have a show-stopper mama after her Crufts win!
It’s always lovely to read of breeders who genuinely care and adore their dogs, carefully sending them off to new loving homes. Gawgeous doggos. Luigi & Gigi sound like lovely couple too with the lunch and the sweet thank you gift. You really do offer such a priceless service. Another job well done guys! xx
She deserved that win! Luigi & Gigi are some of the best examples of breeders — so responsible and clearly adore their dogs. They know who their puppies are going to and care deeply about their futures.
That really does restore my faith in humanity knowing there are such caring, good folks out there. You hear now of so many illegal breeders, animal cruelty, stolen dogs and all sorts of horrors. You don’t real about the good stuff, which is why I love your blog about the work you do. It’s always so uplifting and heart-warming to read. xx
Oh yes, we have visited some rather worrying breeders but that’s a first and last time when we see that.
As I’ve probably mentioned here before, I grew up thinking the German pointers were the only breed in the world. Both my grandfather and my father hunted quail in the fields surrounding our tiny town in southeast Texas and made sure to find the best dogs in the area. A few tiny problems were that the pointers were hopelessly spoiled, spent more time inside our house than out, and had an aversion to gun shots.
Nonetheless, I was stunned when I learned my dad was having an artist paint portraits of his pointers. They were beautiful – I still have them.
He never mentioned having a portrait painted of me. I get that now. And forgive him.
Ha ha ha! What a rotter he was 😀 We can understand how fond he was of them though 😉
