Last year we met a very clever black-and-white cat in Malaga. A dead ringer for Christine’s cat Whiskey, Bandit managed to get himself scooped up with Christine’s other cats and given a microchip and passport in Whiskey’s name, ready to travel to the UK.

Fortunately the mistake was quickly discovered and the real Whiskey could be collected in time. Christine, waiting for her cats to join her in the UK, was so impressed by stray cat Bandit’s subterfuge that she immediately adopted him. We transported him a few weeks later once his passport was valid for the UK.

Christine got in touch with us recently with news of all her pets:

“I am pleased to tell you that they have all settled in. Molli adores me, just as she always used to, Cookie want to possess me, but Bandit and Whiskey come to me to say ‘hello’, have a stroke then go off to their separate places in the house. They all have their favourite chair, and you wouldn’t know I had five cats unless you are there at breakfast time.

Bandit (I’ve renamed him Mongo after Montgo the mountain where he lived) gave me a real scare when he first arrived as he escaped from the dining room overnight and disappeared for a week but he suddenly turned up for breakfast and hasn’t gone far since. He gets on very well with my little dog and they play together.

I am still very grateful for all you did to get my cats (plus one) back to me. I often recount the story of Bandit which people find fascinating and funny.”

Christine also mentioned she’s planning to move back to Spain and will of course be taking her pets with her. This time there will be another (planned) new addition — a baby tortoise!
