Last year we met a very clever black-and-white cat in Malaga. A dead ringer for Christine’s cat Whiskey, Bandit managed to get himself scooped up with Christine’s other cats and given a microchip and passport in Whiskey’s name, ready to travel to the UK.
Fortunately the mistake was quickly discovered and the real Whiskey could be collected in time. Christine, waiting for her cats to join her in the UK, was so impressed by stray cat Bandit’s subterfuge that she immediately adopted him. We transported him a few weeks later once his passport was valid for the UK.
Christine got in touch with us recently with news of all her pets:
“I am pleased to tell you that they have all settled in. Molli adores me, just as she always used to, Cookie want to possess me, but Bandit and Whiskey come to me to say ‘hello’, have a stroke then go off to their separate places in the house. They all have their favourite chair, and you wouldn’t know I had five cats unless you are there at breakfast time.
Bandit (I’ve renamed him Mongo after Montgo the mountain where he lived) gave me a real scare when he first arrived as he escaped from the dining room overnight and disappeared for a week but he suddenly turned up for breakfast and hasn’t gone far since. He gets on very well with my little dog and they play together.
I am still very grateful for all you did to get my cats (plus one) back to me. I often recount the story of Bandit which people find fascinating and funny.”
Christine also mentioned she’s planning to move back to Spain and will of course be taking her pets with her. This time there will be another (planned) new addition — a baby tortoise!
I do love this story! I’m glad it had such a happy ending. I don’t think I could resist Mongo, either.
Isn’t it the tops! Such a clever chap.
I love the bookend photo, they could be twins, how beautiful! I’m glad Bandit found the way back … maybe to rename him in Mongo helps to avoid future escapes :o)
You can imagine how easily the original mistake was made! Luckily for everyone the outcome couldn’t have been better. Yes, we’re hoping the name change makes the fellow happy to be wherever he goes next 🙂
This must make you guys feel so good!
Yup – such a happy ending couldn’t please us more!
I love stories like this. We adopted another kitten.
Ho ho ho – did this kitten pull a fast one on you too?!
No fast ones, she’s just really cute. I have a couple of posts with her at T & L photos on June 2nd and June 7th.
Oh how fabulous!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Isn’t it just!
This gal loves cats!
She sure does but seems to be branching out a little!
There may even be another little dog as I have decided to adopt a rescue as a playmate for Bonnie. I lost our elderly black lab a couple of months ago and he has left a huge gap in my family.
Hi Christine – that sounds like a lovely idea for Bonnie. Bet you’re all missing him. Hopefully we’ll meet the new addition soon.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw <3<3<3
So Bandit, now Mongo, was a stray? So happy for the little guy!
Yup, a very clever stray at that!
so love this story
Made us smile like a Cheshire Cat
Wonderful story! Amazing how much they look alike — bookends for sure!
You can totally understand how the mixup was made!
What a wonderful way to end this story…..Bandit gets that home he wanted AND absolutely deserved……I just love this!
Pam
Yes, he certainly deserved the result. And they’re all off on yet another journey…
Loved the story of Bandit/Mongo 🙂
Isn’t it the best – such a clever fellow!
That’s quite a little clowder of cats eating in the hallway. I’m so glad all the cats including Bandit managed to get home and settle down together. Those two make perfect bookends.
Hugs
What a fantastic story!
Makes you smile out loud 😀
That’s a lovely story! I’m glad it worked out so well for Bandit aka Mongo.
Couldn’t have been a happier ending.
What a wonderful story that turned out such a happy ending!
Isn’t it just. We’re looking forward to meeting them all again and the new additions.
This started my day off with a splendid smile – I always love the reunion stories and this one about Bandit and Whiskey is terrific!! Keep ’em coming!! 🙂
Have a great weekend!!
Glad you had a splendid smile – we certainly smiled as the story unfolded!
What a great story! Hope things go smoother on her trip back!
Wonder if another clever kitty will manage to stow away next time? 😀
all those kitties are lovely!
And a very lucky too.
That is such a great story 😀 I love just how sneaky cats can be, and I extra love that this sweetheart got adopted for his efforts!
Endlessly creative! He saw Christine coming 😀
I love happy endings and can see who the two could have been mistaken for each other.
Yes, that bookend pic shows just how easy the mistake was to make.
