We’re saddened by the current situation in the Middle East and its impact on so many people. Animalcouriers clients using our air freight and road transport services for pet travel may be affected in several ways, outlined below. Like you, our aim is to keep pets secure and comfortable, and make their travel as safe and calm as possible.

What is the impact on outbound pet travel by air (air freight)?

If you’re considering a move or relocation with your pet(s) to the Middle East, Cyprus or Turkey, or you already have a quotation in hand with us, please bear the following in mind.

Limited schedules, rerouted flights. Some airlines have withdrawn flights for both human and pet passengers. Although flights seem to be resuming gradually, schedules are limited, planes are subject to rerouting, and flights may be cancelled at the last minute. We’re monitoring this dynamic situation closely, and liaising with the airlines and IPATA, so that we can keep our clients up to date with the latest news and updates.

Potentially escalating situation. If you go ahead with a move or relocation, but the situation in the Middle East escalates and you need to return to the UK quickly, you may find it challenging to bring your pet(s) back with you.

Some airlines may withdraw pet air freight services, while others don’t offer the service at all, so your evacuation options could be severely limited. Even if you can evacuate with your pet(s), the available routes may be via countries that affect the eligibility of your pet(s) to enter the UK.

If you do go ahead with an imminent move or relocation, we suggest you consider leaving your pet(s) with trusted family or friends in the UK, which may be the safest and least disruptive option for them.

What is the impact on pet owners returning to GB from the Middle East?

APHA has issued guidance for pet owners returning to Great Britain from affected areas of the Middle East. Read our blog.

What is the impact on pet travel by road?

The situation in the Middle East could lead to rising fuel costs over the coming months. We may have to pass a portion of any increase onto clients whose pets travel by road with us. So, effective immediately (6 March 2026), our quotations will be conditional.
