transporting puppies and kittens during lockdown

When a puppy or kitten is ready to leave their breeder for their new home, it’s usually best practice for the owner to collect their new pet themselves. However, national and regional lockdowns may make it difficult or impossible for owners to travel.

We’ve taken advice from Defra, the RSPCA and the Kennel Club, all of whom have approved Animalcouriers to undertake these trips when owners cannot.

We’re doing our best to meet requested collection and delivery deadlines, but ask our clients to be flexible to help us work as efficiently as possible.

As well as prioritising the health and safety of our couriers, we’re following strict animal welfare and Covid-19 guidelines for puppy and kitten transport:

  • We transport each puppy or kitten individually, in a sterile, cleansed pet box or compartment
  • We aim to complete the transport in one day (if the mileage is extreme, we will discuss)
  • We adopt strict social distancing on meeting breeders and handing over pets to their new owners — our couriers expect to stay safe while working

“Just wanted to say thank you so much for organising the collection and safe delivery of Willow. We had almost resigned ourselves to the fact that our new puppy would be several months old before we were able to get her. That was before we found your website, so once again, thank you.”
