Reuniting more Ukrainian cats, dogs and a rat with their owners in the UK

We've had the pleasure of reuniting more Ukrainian cats, dogs and a rat with their owners in the UK. At the same time as Nimo the tortoise was travelling with us, our couriers met cats, dogs and a fancy rat called Lili, all heading to the UK to rejoin their families. Here are some of their stories, which remind us all how important our pets are to all of us, how hard it is to be apart from them, and the joy and relief that come with being back together. It's why we're offering free road transport for Ukrainian [...]

The One Show — reuniting Nimo the tortoise with his Ukrainian owner in the UK

BBC One's The One Show contacted Animalcouriers for help reuniting Nimo the tortoise with his Ukrainian owner. You can catch the whole story on BBC One on Tuesday 12 July at 7pm BST. We'll be posting more Ukrainian pet reunion stories soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to help us continue reuniting Ukrainian families with their pets (which we're doing as a free service to the families), head over to the GoFundMe page set up by one of our supporters. Collecting Ukrainian pets in Poland and Germany

Animalcouriers is just back from collecting Ukrainian pets in Poland and Germany for their journeys to the UK. Also on board were a dog and two cats relocating from Estonia to the UK. Viva! in Warsaw We travelled out from the UK with pet food donations for Viva!, an organisation that's doing amazing work supporting Ukrainian pets as they arrive in Poland. We dropped the supplies off in Warsaw before heading to Estonia. The lovely team from Viva! Poland said: "Big big thanks to Animalcouriers who donated a big van full of dog and cat food this morning. It will [...]

Our first Ukrainian pet passenger, Funtik the chinchilla

Animalcouriers recently transported our first Ukrainian pet passenger, Funtik the chinchilla. Funtik and his owner, Daria, fled from Ukraine at the start of the Russian invasion. They crossed the border into Poland and made their way by train to DĂĽsseldorf in Germany, where Daria has a family member. There, Funtik received a clean bill of health and was issued with a small animal export certificate, allowing him to travel to the UK. Courier Anthony collected Funtik in DĂĽsseldorf and brought him to the UK, while Daria hopped on a flight in order to be ready to greet him. Funtik has [...]

Information for people leaving Ukraine with their pets

The situation for people leaving Ukraine with their pets is evolving. Poland, for example, is allowing all pets into the country, whether or not they have microchips, rabies vaccinations or any form of pet passport. Other EU countries are accepting pets at border crossings and many are taking the same approach as Poland. They're making exceptions to their usual rules about dogs, cats and ferrets needing microchips, rabies vaccinations and pet passports. In some cases, the arrival country is microchipping and vaccinating such pets on arrival. IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, is responding to the situation in Ukraine by providing emergency animal aid to the country. It's also gathering [...]

Free road transport for Ukrainian family pets from Poland

The information in this blog has been superseded. Please see Information for people leaving Ukraine with their pets. Animalcouriers is offering free road transport for Ukrainian family pets from Poland to the UK (or to other selected locations on the route, such as Frankfurt, Brussels and Paris). Our idea is to transport pets for owners who've had to leave Ukraine and are making their own way to the UK (or to other destinations on the route). For all pets, we need to know what veterinary records are available. For dogs, cats and ferrets, we need to know if they have microchips and current [...]

Repatriating dogs and cats from mainland Europe to the UK

Animalcouriers was recently involved in repatriating dogs and cats from mainland Europe to the UK. Our passengers were a dog from Gibraltar, a family of 11 pets from Spain; and another dog whose journey had started in Poland. Anil, a dog from Gibraltar to Ipswich Dear little Anil travelled with colleagues from Gibraltar to Ipswich, crossing to the UK via Eurotunnel. The trip wasn't without its challenges however, starting with the fact that Anil's family needed to leave without having found anywhere for Anil to stay while he waited to travel. Working together, we managed to get a courier to [...]
