Meeting a cat from Italy, and dogs and a rabbit from Greece

Having delivered all their passengers from the UK, couriers M and J collected Pipi the cat from Italy. They then headed to the Italian port of Bari, where courier J hopped on the ferry to Patras in Greece. Pipi We transported Pipi to Fondi last year for her owner Jane. Now it's time for Jane and her partner to return to the UK, and Pipi is once again travelling with Animalcouriers. We had fun and games rounding up Pipi. We told Jane that Pipi was OK, but a bit annoyed with us, to which Jane said: Haha 😂 she is feisty but [...]

A long trip north to the Orkneys; and a short hop across the Channel

Tybalt, from London to the Orkneys Sarah and her young family have moved from London to Westray, in the Orkney Islands, where Sarah is to be the head teacher of the local primary school. Sarah rang us last year for help with the challenging of moving the family's cat, Tybalt. There are no longer any flights to Orkney that take pets; the only route is by boat from Scotland to the main ports of Kirkwall and Stromness. Sarah's brother Will offered to take Tybalt with him when he went to visit; but researching the options for doing so stretched even [...]

Meeting Pastis, Daisy, Roxy and Benzema — our passengers from Lyon

You may remember that as we headed towards the UK on our last trip, our van developed a problem with the clutch. So we stopped in the southern French town of Narbonne and left the van for repair at the local Mercedes garage. Meanwhile, Courier Joe drove down from the UK to meet us in another of our vans, so that we could continue our journey. Mercedes sorted the problem out within a few days, and courier Richard flew out to pick up the van and collect UK-bound pets in France. Pastis Courier Richard headed from Narbonne to Lyon, to [...]

Meet our road trip passengers from Greece

After courier J left for Lesvos to accompany dogs travelling to the UK by air, courier Mike joined courier M to collect the pets travelling by road. Hera Simon found Hera when she was very young, suffering from a damaged leg. He arranged for her to have an operation and took care of her. Simon runs a holiday resort on one of the Greek islands and is becoming increasingly involved in animal rescue, so we may well meet him again. Meanwhile, little Hera stole the hearts of another Simon and Sonia, who are giving her a new home in Hampshire. [...]

Ludo, Misty, Apache and Kali hop on board in France

While couriers J and M continue their journey through Spain and Portugal, courier Mike is making his way back from France to the UK. Collecting a cat and three dogs en route, he's now crossing the Channel from the French port of Caen. Heading north, his first stop was to pick up young Peke puppy Ludo from his breeder, Micheline, in the Toulouse area. Ludo is off to live with Helen. Micheline shed a little tear as she waved goodbye to lovely Ludo In the Tarn, he collected Jean's cat Misty, a wonderfully fluffy Himalayan Persian. Jean and [...]

Crossing from Greece to Italy, and a night in Ancona at our favourite A3Passi

Our ferry from Greece to Italy was on time, so we were able to get the new tyres fitted on our van without delay. While that was being taken care of, we gave the dogs an extra leg stretch. New tyres going on our van Jerry enjoying a walk Mirsa, very attentive A night at the A3Passi hotel We spent the night in Ancona, at one of our very favourite places, the A3Passi Agriturismo Hotel. The hotel is actually closed until the end of January, but when we asked for a room, we were welcomed like [...]

Ziggy, Honey, Raj and Islay join our trip to the UK

When couriers M and Mike turned up for their ferry crossing from Italy to Greece, strike action meant a 24-hour delay. To avoid passing that delay on to all our passengers, courier Mike turned back to start collecting UK-bound pets in Italy and France. Gorgeous Ziggy and her owners have been apart for 10 months. Now it's time for them to be reunited, as Ziggy follows her owners from Rome to South Wales. Sweet Honey is relocating from Monte San Savino to Nottinghamshire. Honey was an abandoned puppy in a car park — until Julia turned up. [...]

Reunions for Baxter, Rikki and Woody in England; and for Shelley, Bingo and Louis in Ireland

Animalcouriers has been busy reuniting some of our recent passengers from continental Europe with their owners in the UK. Baxter was lucky enough to be adopted by Sam and Maddie when they were working near Carcassonne this summer. We delivered him to Sam's mum Jane in Chester, where he'll wait for Sam and Maddie to join him. Sam and Maddie are over the moon knowing that Baxter has reached the UK safely. Sam wrote to say: "I just wanted to say a massive thank you. I can't believe how helpful you have been and thoughtful to our situation. I cannot [...]

Reuniting Tosca, and drawing a pet-friendly crowd in Spain

Animalcouriers crossed into Spain where our first stop was El Vendrell in Catalonia to reunite gorgeous cat Tosca with his owner Xavier. Tosca declined to show his face for a goodbye photo — but Xavier wasn't at all surprised, explaining that Tosca is 'very shy.' We then headed straight to a garage as our van's air conditioning had become a little temperamental towards the end of the previous day. As is always the case, our passengers aroused great interest, and in no time the mechanics were pulling out their smartphones to show us photos of their own pets. The boss [...]
