On board as we head towards the UK are five dogs from Spain. They're a great bunch of playful, friendly characters who all love their walks. Rocco In the port town of Tarifa — a mecca for sand surfers — we met up with Franciska, who arrived the night before from Morocco with lovely little Rocco, who she rescued from the streets. Franciska was working in Morocco when she found herself adopted by Rocco, and couldn't leave her behind. It's quite complicated transporting dogs from Morocco, and they'd had to wait a while for Rocco's travel documents to come through. [...]

All photographs on this site are of our animal clients. All countries mentioned are destinations to which we have delivered animals. All species mentioned, we have handled. Serra, Rey and Tommy are gradually adapting to their new UK environment after their adventure from Praia D'El Rey. If they could speak we're sure they would tell us they were very well looked after throughout their trip. Thank you all at AC for taking such good care of them Paul (Serra, Rey and Tommy travelled with Animalcouriers from Portugal to the UK) Just a final thank you for all your help [...]
The final leg of the Animalcouriers trip from southern Europe was quite slow — as well as the Tour de France being in full swing, several of the pets' passports had minor errors that needed attention from a vet. We reached Calais in the evening and felt it would be less stressful for the animals to stay there for the night, and cross to the UK the following morning. Up bright and early, we got to the port to find a security alert in progress. The extra security procedures in place meant it took over four hours to get from [...]
After delivering Coddy to Marta's mum at her cafe, Bueno Momentos, in Lisbon, we spent the night at the Holiday Inn Express at Lisbon airport. Today we set off for Faro, and from there it will be on to Gibraltar. But before leaving Lisbon, we went to collect Gaby from Demetrio and Ligia. Her owner Ronivon is already in England, and her two friends have been looking after Gaby for her. "Gaby is not wishing to travel today," said Demetrio, who reported that Gaby was proving difficult to catch and perhaps we could help! Our next port of call was in [...]
Last night we stayed at Domaine de Vareilles in France's Limousin region. The charming hotel and restaurant offers very good dog walking and excellent wine and food, without being too expensive. We're now at Calais ready for our crossing to the UK. Scooby in the morning sunshine… …and demanding a tummy rub! Toby on the move — hence the slightly blurry shot Hester and Dillon deciding which way to go Is someone over there having biscuits? wonder Nelson and Hardy Is Benny sizing up courier M's leg for a wee?! [...]
Animalcouriers collected lovely cat Dilly from Covihla in Portugal. As we drove through the old town the roads became steeper and narrower until we had to send out for help. Luckily Ines could pop Dilly into her travel box and bring her to us! Dilly is on her way to Scotland. We suspect she's used to chilly winters, however, given the snow depth marking posts we encountered along the way. We stayed last night at Mont de Marsan in France's Aquitaine region and today were pleased to call on our favourite vet, Dr Diana James, who gave some of our doggy [...]
As they journey northwards through France, Animalcouriers and their charges are still encountering cold and snow, but sunshine too, which makes it so much more bearable. We're hoping to cross the channel late this afternoon.
Louisa, who is instrumental in rescuing and caring for street dogs in Corfu, has sent us a photo of some of her charges wearing a new design of fleece coat, provided by her organisation's supporters. We're sure the dogs are enjoying them during the cold spell Greece is suffering at the moment. Scooby, who is travelling to the UK with Animalcouriers, was one of the dogs her organisation looked after. He was fostered by Spiridoula until he could set off to join his adoptive family in the UK.
Corfu has an enormous number of street dogs, some of whom approached Animalcouriers as we were getting our passengers on board. They're gentle, quiet dogs but their plight of living on the streets among the traffic and with little food is very sad.
