Courier Ricardo headed to Wakefield in West Yorkshire to collect six Tibetan Terrier puppies from breeder Heather. As a responsible breeder, Heather usually insists that new owners collect their puppies in person. Under the Covid-19 lockdown, however, she knew this wasn’t possible. So she contacted Animalcouriers, as we are Defra-registered hauliers, to discuss the possibility of us delivering the puppies.

Heather interviewed us in depth and checked our credentials before agreeing to entrust her beautiful puppies to us for transport. We also had calls with the puppies’ new owners, who wanted to know details of the trip. We were pleased that everyone was so focused on the puppies’ safety and wellbeing.

When courier Ricardo arrived, the six puppies were waiting with the rest of their litter mates, all newly microchipped and vaccinated by Heather’s vet. Each puppy sported a different coloured collar, and each collar was matched to the new owner. Heather also provided a list of the puppies’ microchip numbers, so that we could double check their identities with our microchip reader — just in case they chewed each other’s collars off!

A couple of hours out of Wakefield, courier Ricardo met up with courier Ray to hand over two of the puppies for their journeys to the south west of England. Splitting the deliveries in this way kept each puppy’s journey as short and direct as possible.
