Courier Richard recently made a quick trip to Spain to collect Nina’s cats and Lucy’s dogs, all heading to the UK. On his way back, the timing was perfect to scoop up last-minute addition Basil, along with his owner Hannah, in Calais.

Kate and Bianco

Super feline duo Kate and Bianco belong to Nina and Cameron, who’ve relocated to London. Courier Richard collected them in Barcelona from a friend of Nina’s who’s been looking after them for a few months. Needless to say, Nina and Cameron were very excited at the prospect of seeing their cats again. Their friend’s daughter, on the other hand, was understandably sad to see them go.

Beautiful Kate — like Bianco, she's very affectionate

Bianco preferred to travel in her (clean) litter tray. At 18 years old, this senior sweetie has the right to do pretty much whatever she likes!

Monty and Lexi

Monty and Lexi from Marbella are impeccably behaved Bodegueros, a type of Spanish terrier. They belong to Lucy, whose brother has been looking after them since Lucy went on ahead to Hertfordshire.

Basil

Gorgeous ginger tabby Basil was a last-minute addition to the trip. Owner Hannah originally rescued him in Greece and nursed him back to health following a snake bite. Basil was rehomed to Strasbourg but didn’t quite settle in, and Hannah was missing him quite badly. So a permanent reunion was hastily arranged.

Having got Basil as far as Paris by train, Hannah found herself struggling to transport him the rest of the way to the UK. She hadn’t realised the daunting challenges around bringing him in by air or by ferry as a foot passenger. And hiring a car was going to be prohibitively expensive. Fortunately the timing was perfect for Animalcouriers to help. Hannah took the train to Calais where courier Richard collected her and Basil and drove them to the UK along with his other passengers.

Once they were home, Hannah wrote to say: “Just thought I’d send you a massive thank you for your help, my boy is more than happy to be home with me…..Richard was great!” She also sent some rather wonderful photos.

"Now they are slowly starting to mingle, but obviously taking things very slowly."
