Having delivered all our passengers from the UK, we headed to Stockholm to collect our Swedish passenger, a cat called Maki, before making our way to Rotterdam to meet Frusty.

Coffee stop on the road. We were lucky enough to enjoy a perfect summer temperature of 24C, complete with a cooling breeze, while much of Europe sweltered in a heatwave.
Swedish hospitality
On our way to Stockholm we looked for overnight accommodation in the mid west of Sweden,. We followed our noses into the countryside and came upon a rather wonderful place to stay. Not much more than a converted barn, it was quite basic — but absolutely perfect in its bucolic setting on a gloriously sunny day.

We didn’t have any dogs with us, but it would have been the perfect spot for a dog walk
Maki
Stunning ginger tabby cat Maki belongs to Marta. She works for Proctor and Gamble and frequently relocates for her job. Maki is therefore a well travelled cat. In fact, he’s a returning Animalcouriers passenger, having travelled with us before from Spain to the UK. So we were very pleased to see him again when we collected him in Stockholm for his journey to London.

Maki was very calm in his carrier

The handsome fellow himself, all settled in to his bedroom for the trip

Before leaving Sweden we couldn’t resist popping into the Lekoseum, in Osby, which is closely associated with the Brio toy brand many of us will remember from our childhoods

A helpful panel explaining the connection (as well as the origin of the name ‘Brio’)
Frusty
From Sweden we wended our way to the Netherlands, stopping in Rotterdam to collect Frusty, a gorgeous cat who belongs to Hajar. Hajar and Frusty are relocating to Sutton in Surrey. Frusty will stay at Burntwood Kennels until Hajar catches up.

We love Frusty’s delicate markings
Beautiful scenery and travelers.
Marvelous images – my Ancestry DNA revealed my connection to Sweden (as well as Germany and Great Britain), and these scenes are ones that resonate deeply with me. I can see myself with all of my dogs walking in that field.
The cats are perfectly situated and ready for their journey so I bid them safe travels.
Excellent cat shots and very inviting pictures of the guest house.
How funny! Frusty looks like he got his nose into some ashes! But what a lovely face. Ahhh, but the Ginger is always a favorite of mine. Isn’t it such a treat to find good accommodations!
They’re lovely cats. Maki looks as though he is supervising from his room in the van!
