On our way to Greece to meet a host of UK-bound passengers

While courier Gwen set off from our Italian meeting point with pets heading to the UK, courier J and M made their way to Greece. Lurchers Jim and Weasel, travelling to Crete, were on board; and a host of UK-bound passengers awaited us in Athens. For the trip back to the UK, we were joined by courier Matthew from GoFetch. Here he is with courier M, at a meeting of the Club Sandwich club. Jim and Weasel This delightful duo, who had travelled from the UK with courier Gwen, were great company. When we reached mainland Greece, our [...]

A meeting of Animalcouriers vans in Bologna

As couriers J and M were leaving Croatia, courier Gwen set off from the UK. The two Animalcouriers vans met up in Bologna in Italy. Late-night rendezvous in Bologna On the trip from Hungary and Croatia to Italy, the temperatures ranged from plus 15C to minus 2C. We also experienced thunder, lightning, rain, sleet, sun, clouds, light breezes and, finally, snow! Couriers J and M transferred the five hounds from Croatia to courier Gwen for their onward journey to the UK. Courier Gwen, meanwhile, handed couriers J and M two Lurchers, Jim and Weasel, who had [...]

Meet Aretha, Princess, Maxi, Luka and Lola from the Dubrovnik Animal Shelter

In Dubrovnik, Croatia, couriers J and M made their way to the Dubrovnik Animal Shelter, where five gorgeous dogs were waiting for us. This is our first of what we hope will be regular trips to the shelter to bring rescue dogs to the UK where new homes are ready and waiting for them. The shelter is working in a very responsible way, in partnership with a small group of volunteers in the UK, and we're pleased to be playing a part in helping these eminently rehomeable dogs reach their new families. You can read more about the shelter, and [...]

Happy reunions in Hungary

On the way to happy reunions in Hungary for Paul, Richard and Rosie with their nine pets, couriers J and M drove through Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Tarts and pies in Slovenia. How does one keep trim when treats like this are on offer?! We arrived to find a happy household of expectant pet owners — the human family had travelled the day before and had everything ready for the dogs and cats. The dogs have never lived with a garden before, so there was lots of rushing about and exploring to do. Courier M holds on [...]

Meeting a family of three dogs and six cats in Malta

Couriers J and M flew into Sicily's Catania airport, hopped into a waiting Animalcouriers van, and headed off to meet a family of three dogs and six cats in Malta. We're transporting the pets from Malta to Hungary — the first time we've done this particular trip. Our ferry from Pazzollo in Sicily to Malta Sightseeing in Malta It's always a pleasure for couriers J and M to find themselves on Malta, as both have childhood ties to the island. With a bit of spare time before meeting their passengers, our couriers took in some of the sights [...]

Travelling to France, Portugal, Italy and Sicily

It's a busy time for Animalcouriers on the road just now, with couriers just back from travelling to France, Portugal, Italy and Sicily; and trips to Malta, Hungary, Croatia and Greece coming up. Pickle We collected tabby-and-white puss Pickle from Meadowbank Cattery in Arundel, West Sussex, and took him to rejoin owner Michelle in the Dordogne region of France. Splendid fellow Pickle Squaky, Mazuka and Lumen This feline trio joined us in Felixstowe, heading to the Algarve in Portugal. We delivered them to the Animal Inn cattery in Guia, where they'll wait for their owners to catch up. [...]

Pet travel between the UK and the EU after Brexit

With the UK due to leave the EU on 29 March 2019, many of our clients are asking what the effect of Brexit will be on pet travel between the UK and the EU. Specifically, they're asking whether the Pet Passport Scheme (PETS) that covers dogs, cats and ferrets will still apply. Pets will still be able to travel Defra (the UK government's Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) has stated that pets and their owners will still be able to travel between the UK and the EU post Brexit. For pets travelling from the EU to the UK, there [...]

Pets flying around the world

While Animalcouriers vans have been busy moving pets throughout Europe, we've also been organising flights and paperwork for pets flying around the world. Destinations for these dogs and cats were Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, Qatar, Kenya, Grand Cayman, Turks and Caicos, Bermuda and the British Virgin Islands. We also met pets arriving in the UK from South Africa, Northern Cyprus and Bermuda. Pistol Pete Welsh Terrier Pistol Pete flew to Australia to join his new family, who are big fans of the breed. After completing his stay at Mickleham Quarantine Kennels in Melbourne, Pete jetted across to Perth [...]
