Animalcouriers set off from the UK with pets travelling to Greece. We chose an overland route, through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, as shaded open-deck spots weren’t available on the ferry route from Italy to Greece.
Charlie
Charlie, an irrepressible Cocker Spaniel, travelled with us from London to Thessaloniki in Greece.

Serenity
Cute as a button and as calm as her name suggests, Serenity is a four-month-old Bull Mastiff. We collected her from her breeder Triona in Hampshire, and took her to her new owner Christos in Thessaloniki.

Darling Serenity
Leeloo
Simply gorgeous tortie puss Leeloo made the long journey from Dundee in Scotland to Athens. This gentle girl soon got used to life on the road.

Leeloo’s beautiful markings
Saffron, Sophie and Twinkle
These three chums belong to Kevin and his wife, who’ve relocated from Lincolnshire to the Greek island of Rhodes.

Twinkle is very laid back and always ready for her tea

Shih Tzu Saffron and Springer Sophie are great mates and love their walks

Here they are with courier Marc, just back from a beach walk. We expect there will be plenty more for them to enjoy on Rhodes
What we saw on the way

Our hotel near Wels in Austria features some interesting pets

Alpacas, goats and rabbits happily shared a paddock

Courier Marc out on an early morning walk near Wels with Sophie and Saffron

All our canine passengers enjoyed this stunning forest walk

Sunflowers spotted in Romania

Around 10 years ago there were a lot of these handmade cards in Romania.

Now they seem to be dying out, replaced by rather smart cars!

With Akis to Rhodes

In Athens we caught up with our great friend and colleague Akis, who operates a pet taxi service. He took Saffron, Sophie and Twinkle on the last leg of their trip to rejoin their owners in Rhodes.

Twinkle was still laid back after 3,200 miles on the road
wow twinkles that is a super long distance…. we totally love charlie he has a funny hairstyle… like dad’s rival rod ;O)
Twinkles is a well-travelled cat! Dad’s rival has nothing on Charlie 😀
Twinkle looks exceptionally laid back!
That forest walk looks fun – there are always so many interesting smells amongst the trees.
It was a glorious place for walks with the dogs — from tree to tree to tree 😀
Nice to meet you!
They are a lovely lot!
Everybody looks quite happy to be on the road – you make them so comfortable and keep them happy with walks, treats and attention they are always looking happy! Quite a long journey for some of these animals – the reunions are just that much SWEETER after such a long trip.
Pam and Teddy
It was a long journey for many of them but without safe ferry journeys, we weren’t happy to do our usual, shorter trip. Everyone was jolly pleased at the other end though 😀
The two gray kitties in this post made me pine a bit for our May kitty…sigh. Take good care of yourselves out there – imagine the heat has been a factor for you all too.
The heat is an issue at the moment — all aspects of the trips have to be planned around the weather and where we are at what time of day. Aircon is a MUST!
Your passengers are very well looked after….and delightfully photographed.
We travelled through countries we hadn’t been to for ages. It was great to be reacquainted.
Oh, my … what fabulous images on this trip! The wonderful travelers as well as the countryside with its flora and fauna struck gold!
Safe journeys and have a marvelous weekend!
Lots of different places we hadn’t been to for ages so never a dull moment!
Twinkle’s a real trooper.
As long as she had good food, she was happy to go anywhere!
wonderful travelers
being cared for 🙂
They were all troopers on such a long journey!
You see so much beautiful country and of course the furry ones are all beautiful and look happy! Twinkles does much better with 3200 miles on the road than I would have done! I’d have needed a couple glasses of wine!
Twinkle was happy with a lovely bowl of food at the end of the day. The couriers, well…!
