on the road with Animalcouriers

From England to Ireland to France; and a side trip from Spain to Germany

Courier Richard travelled from England to Ireland with a dog called Coco, and came back with a dog called Oscar. He met up with courier Helen, who’d scooped up several more France-bound passengers from around the UK, then headed off to France via Eurotunnel.

Coco

Charming Coco, a Cavalier King Charles, made the journey with us from Essex to Country Leitrim in Ireland. As well as being fun to have on board, Coco was certain that every phone call courier Richard took required his participation too!

Collecting Oscar

From County Leitrim courier Richard drove to Londonderry to collect a very likeable wire-haired Jack Russell called Oscar. Oscar travelled with us to join owner David and James on holiday near Avignon in France. Previously when David’s been away, his mum has taken care of Oscar. But David is so attached to Oscar, he didn’t want to be parted from him this time.

Bailey

After living in London for a while, Collie cross Bailey is back at the stud farm in Coudres where he was born, where he’s rejoined his mum and dad and several other dogs.

Joseph and Tea

Also known as Joe and Mr T, these two cats belong to Trudie. They travelled with us from Berkshire to rejoin Trudie and their Westie pal, Daphne, in the Vendée. Both cats were fairly shy at the start of the trip, but cat-loving courier Richard persisted gently and eventually persuaded both to show their faces.

Delivering Oscar

Oscar seemed unfazed by his journey from Ireland when we delivered him to his French holiday home. He’s looking forward to a fabulous six months under sunny southern skies.

Basil

American Field Labrador Basil, a regular Animalcouriers client, was excellent company as usual. This well mannered fellow sits and lies down when asked to, but got very excited when he caught sight of a rabbit! At his holiday home in France’s Var region he’ll be able to catch up with his brother who lives nearby.

Arthur

Pug Arthur is a true ambassador for his breed — and a real survivor, who was fortunate to be rescued as a puppy by his current owners from someone whose mind was on money, not welfare. Arthur travelled with us from Cambridgeshire to join his family in Nice. It had taken some time for the family to find dog-friendly accommodation, so the reunion after quite a while apart was very touching. Arthur was clearly delighted to be back with the people who love him best.

Coco

Another Coco! This Coco is a Chihuahua and a returning Animalcouriers client. She travelled with us from Aix en Provence to London, where owner Stacey was waiting for her.

And finally…

Courier Sarah made a quick dash to Barcelona to collect a trio of gorgeous tabby cats, Marty, Minx and Basil. All are indoor cats, so the road trip to Essen in Germany was a big adventure for them, but they seemed to take it in stride.

The first leg of the journey took them as far as Limoges, France, where they had a rest day with courier Sarah. Then it was off to Düsseldorf airport to collect their owner and continue the journey to their new home (and wait for the furniture to arrive).

A beautiful spot to stay and I liked the label for the horses.

Oh my! What a big crowd of travelers and ALL of them with happy faces. Moving around seems to be “old hat” for many of these pets – following their owners as they move for work or season – it matters not as long as they have happy reunions. Love that cottage with the rock wall!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

I had to share this one – the pictures of the animals and countryside were fabulous, but I have to admit I most loved the one of the Rainbow Ballroom in Glenfarne. Perfect!

Wow, you outdid yourself this time AC. So many great animals. But I must say that yawning Oscar and sleeping Bailey made me want to take a nap! –Curt
