Delivering pets to their families in France, Spain and Portugal

On the runup to Christmas Animalcouriers embarked on a southern European tour, delivering pets to their families in France, Spain and Portugal, and collecting new passengers heading back to the UK.

Katie

Gorgeous Persian cat Katie’s journey started in Dubai. She flew into London, and has now relocated to the charming town of Excideuil in the Dordogne region of France.

Fabulous felines Gordi and Kiki travelled with us to rejoin owner Jorge in Burgos, following a spell of living in Solihull. Burgos is home to the best black pudding in the world, according to courier M.

Fly

Fly, a splendid Border Collie, spent the day before the trip with courier M, who found her great company. She’s originally from Wales, where she was rescued from a house with too many dogs living in it. She travelled with us to rejoin doting owner Javier near Madrid.

Terrific tortie Lola journeyed with us from Croydon in Surrey to Castellon de la Plana, where owner Stefanie was waiting for her.

Alice, Lola’s grandma, was on hand to take delivery of Lola. She even took a photo to check she had the right cat. What a clever idea!

Dexter

Bearded Dragon Dexter, who belongs to Marijke and Sebastian, made the trip with us from London to Alicante in Spain. This handsome fellow is a returning client — we think he’s grown a bit since we last saw him!

Arca

Boxer dog Arca moved from Nottinghamshire to Orihuela in Spain with owners Steve and Ann. Despite his fine grizzled head, he’s a lively, bouncy fellow who enjoys sniffing and exploring when out on his walks.

Chico

Ball of fluff Chico relocated with us from East Anglia to Nerja in Spain, to join owner Tanya.

After delivering Chico, we wound our way down from the hills towards Almeria, and passed this collection of western-themed buildings complete with fort and tepees

Jerry

Cool cat Jerry moved from chilly Edinburgh to sunny Nerja. He broke his journey at courier J’s, where he soon became a firm favourite. We transported Jerry to Douglas, who’s adopted him from an old friend who sadly is too ill to care for him. Jerry certainly won’t be lonely, as Douglas already has four cats, two dogs and a tortoise.

Oscar

We collected lovely Labrador Oscar from Old Clayton Kennels in Washington, West Sussex. The staff had grown so fond of him that everyone was called out to say goodbye to him!

Monty

Cute and cuddly Monty left Sussex behind to spend Christmas in San Roque, Spain, where owner Gillian was soon to join him.

Monty is quite a character, keeping an eye on all the comings and goings around our van, and adoring his walks

Alex

We first met Alex, a Podenco, in 2011 when we transported him to the UK for Isabel, who adopted him from a shelter as she left Porto for England. At the grand old age of 14, Alex is now on his way back to Portugal, as Isabel is going back to live with her family.

Mimi

Gorgeous Golden Retriever Mimi relocated to England with owner Gillian. This lovely dog had a rotten start in life, as she was used as a breeding bitch and kept confined for five years. In Gillian’s tender care, however, she has thrived and has become her close and constant companion.

Tabby cat Percy headed back to the UK after a stint in the southern sunshine with owner Neil.

Scamp

Cheeky chappy Scamp was abandoned outside Kitty’s home in south west Spain, probably because she’s known for helping to rehome unwanted dogs through the Animal Angels association. Most of the dogs find new families in Germany and the Netherlands, but Scamp’s new home is with Steve in Ludlow.

Steve wrote to say:

“Just a quick note to say that Scamp arrived safe and sound. I am delighted that he is with me. Kitty was delighted to see such a professional setup and caring attitude, and it is obvious that all of you are devoted to providing the best animal care as well as a professional and knowledgeable admin and advice service for the transport and import of animals.

We truly are delighted to have chosen Animalcouriers and I will have no hesitation in recommending you (in fact I have already passed on your details to a friend who will be using your services in early 2018).

Thank you all from all of us — including Scamp, who was so unfazed by the long journey, he has already had his first long walk in the English countryside and is now snoozing happily by the fire. If only all of us could be treated so well and be so rested on long journeys!”

Megan relocated from the Portuguese Algarve to join owner Barbara in the UK. She was lovingly cared for by Barbara’s friend and neighbour Lyn.

We collected gorgeous cats Molly and Tinker from Madam Sabrina at her cattery in the Jurançon. The cats are going all the way to Aberdeen in Scotland, to rejoin owner George.
