Animalcouriers spent the night at a delightful farmhouse B&B to the north of Valencia, then headed off to Casa Antigua kennels and cattery to meet two cats, Pedro and Flash. They travelled by ferry from Ibiza to Denia, where Mel from Casa Antigua met them, then put them up for the night.

Our B&B outside Valencia — the citrus fruit season is in full swing in Spain

Darling Pedro is on his way to join his owner in Berkshire

Young Flash is well named — no way is he standing still for a second to have his photo taken! He’s on his way to Lancashire.
Jackie and her family have moved back to Cumbria from Gandesa, and left their four pets — Chiqui, Panda, Tina and Fizzy — in the temporary care of old friends of Animalcouriers, Les and Bill.

Les was away at a Christmas market, so it was left to Bill to demonstrate his dog-wrangling skills

Gorgeous Chiqui

A faraway look in Panda’s eyes

Fizzy (seen here) and Tina decided to take a tour of our van

Tina quite sure she can signal while Fizzy puts a paw on the pedal

Fizzy and Tina safely ensconced in their bedroom!
Handsome Romero is eight years old and has spent six of those years at the dog pound in Tossa de Mar, near Gerona. The dog pounds in many Spanish towns and cities are always full of dogs who’ve been rounded up off the streets. They’re often in out-of-the-way places, because of the space needed and the noise of the dogs. But that makes rehoming hard, as potential adopters don’t simply pass by. The problem is compounded by the fact that the people running the pounds rarely have the time or resources to run rehoming campaigns.

Romero’s luck finally changed when Kate went looking for a dog to adopt and fell for Romero. He’s now on his way to join her in Essex.

Romero is quite a tall fellow!
After collecting Romero we headed over the border into France and spent the night in Narbonne. Our next stop was in Bourges, further north in the Cher, where we woke to a chilly, frosty morning. Bearded dragon Jon Jon is tucked up with extra heat pads!

The fallen leaves looked beautiful in the frost

Fizzy and Tina dashed about, enjoying new smells and the crunchy leaves under their feet

Babi wisely stayed cosy in bed

Pedro fancied a chin tickle…

…as did Panda…

…and Floyd

Chiqui doing acrobatics

Lolita is a lovely gentle girl on her walks

If courier M doesn’t hurry up, Romero reckons he’ll have to try jumping out!

He’s actually very sedate for a big chap

Pretty blonde Rubia patiently waiting her turn

Plenty of festive spirit at the Ibis hotel in Calais, and the usual warm welcome from Greg, who always asks after the pets travelling with us
Oh i am so happy for Romero..i cannot imagine his life in a shelter so long..breaks my heart..and yet look at him..a happy healthy boy..best love and long life to him and his new peep…she has my peep of the month award 🙂 safe travels all very cute clients indeed 🙂 Loves Fozziemum xxx
It beggars belief that such a fine fellow can be stuck for so long in a pound but then, he was lucky to survive that long with overcrowding 🙁 He’s set for a very different and very fine life now!
Romero I wish you the bestest christmas ever in your new home in essex… have tons of treats and the biggest christmas tree of the whole united kingdom :o)
What a life he’s going to have! Wonder if he’s ever experienced a Christmas filled with food and presents?
Lovely photos of the pets and the reindeer. I’d love to have one of those oranges.
The oranges are divine.
Looks like you had a lovely stay-over AC. The pets all look so well behaved and happy to be travelling with you all. What fun it must be! 😀
Stunning photo of the frosted leaves. I love it! 😀
It was a very lovely stay over! Glad you like the leaves – incredible what a Blackberry can do 😀
Not only the Blackberry. You need the ‘eye’ as well, and that you do have AC. 😀
I’ve seen cell phone shots that looks awesome and believe it’s not what you have, but what you do with it. You sure know what to do with your Blackberry. 😀
That is very kind of you! You’re right, both couriers J&M can get some super shots from their phones.
You a real load of kitties and puppies. Greg looks like a good guy. The leaves are beautiful.
The kitties were a really friendly bunch and kept us entertained the whole trip.
A lovely bunch of furry critters…loving Fizzy’s name…hopefully all (including AC staffers) home for Christmas 🙂
Fizzy really lives up to that name 😀 Yes, we’re all very happy to be home for Christmas!
wishing all of you (furry, furless or whatever) a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🙂
And the very same back to you! Hope 2016 is a great one 😀
Beautiful passengers!
Bless all who adopt creatures in need. The act of adoption lights a candle against the darkness of loneliness, pain and fear.
Every single adoption adds up. Romero’s life couldn’t be more different from now on. Six years!
Beautiful pictures all. You really are a boon for all those stressed people who have to leave their animals behind. They’re guaranteed peace of mind with you. You ALL do a fantastic job.

Thank you David. Such a relief to get everyone where they need to be in time for Christmas.
Than you for making me smile today with these beautiful spirits you ferry about with so much love and care. You all are so wonderful – love the reindeer cap! 🙂
We’re delighted to have raised a smile! Greg’s a lot of fun.
I hope Choppy does not see the pics of Tina and Fizzy in the car, lest she get any ideas about driving the car herself!
Well, they have taught dogs how to drive in New Zealand… 😀
I have seen that video – I hide it from Choppy!

I’m so happy for Romero. It breaks my heart to think of animals stuck in shelters for so long.
I wish you a very merry Christmas and a wonderful 2016!
Beautiful photos, safe travels.
You always keep your passengers safe – so important!!
