Animalcouriers reunited pets with their owners in Spain and Portugal. We then started the trip back north with the first of our UK-bound passengers on board.
Having reunited lovely little Princessa with her owner’s partner, Antonio, we spent the night at the coastal resort of Mojacar. During our evening dog walks along the seafront, we watched the waves pounding onto the sand as a storm brewed up. By morning the storm had blown itself out, and dogs and couriers alike enjoyed watching the sun rise on a fresh new day.
When Bella’s owner Jean and her husband moved to Spain, they took the ferry with their two dogs, but felt that Bella would be more comfortable travelling with us. Most Orientals are very vocal and we had expected to be serenaded on the trip, but Bella was quiet as a mouse — until she saw Jean! We’re sure Bella will enjoy exploring the hillside location of her new Spanish home.
Our next delivery was Poppy the pocket-sized Staffie, who reached her new home in Portugal. Despite the cold, wet weather she was very pleased to be reunited with her owner.
German Shepherd Dogs Rex and Ringo were adopted as puppies from the Filozoikos Shelter by Pedro, when he was working in Athens. Urgent family circumstances meant Pedro had to return to Portugal, and we were asked to transport his dogs. We don’t have a direct route, but worked out a two-stage trip from them. We collected them from Filozoikos on our Greek run last month and took them to kennels in France, where we collected them as we passed by this time. As you may imagine, they’ve become quite the seasoned travellers!
Tiny Pixtura, a Chihuahua–Miniature Pinscher cross, joined our trip in Lisbon, sporting a smart pink coat. She’s travelling with us to rejoin her owner Sonia in Cambridgeshire.
While in the Lisbon area we also collected four cats, Tavi, Mitzi, Polly and Maru, who are heading to the leafy lanes of Somerset. Owners Gillian and Richard are most definitely cat people and these four are the apples of everyone’s eye — although they did play hard to get when we turned up to collect them!
It’s so great to see that happy faces… we only need a song pawformed by Bella to celebrate this welcome pawty with you :o) I feel a little sorry for this house of Lisbon, I always get this diy-feeling when I see a house what needs work and loving hands :o)
Bella did sing the song of her people! We worry that it’s too late for tender loving care for that house in Lisbon 🙁
How absolutely gorgeous! I don’t keep up that well but every time I do I can feel my whole body smiling at what you guys do!
Glad to hear we can raise a smile for you!
A lot of HAPPY humans and animals!
Hugs, Pam

Tavi is a lovely name 🙂
It is 🙂 🙂
Our cats approve or disapprove of visitors. They have a good sense about the nature of people.
We would be foolish to ignore what they tell us.
Hi there, I saw that you have mentioned that you have picked up 4 cats in Lisbon, but none of them are my two cats that you picked up on Monday (I hope). Any news about Dragao and Sofia??
Many thanks.
Tania & Alex
Hi Tania, we do indeed have Dragao and Sofia on board! It was too dark to take photos when we picked them up but we now have some lovely shots and they’ll be appearing in our next blog post. They’re doing just fine!
Love the happy reunions, the visitor approval sign and the ‘graffiti’!
The graffiti wowed us!
I love that sign about visitor approval! The graffiti is quite spectacular..
Biggest approach to building as canvas we’ve seen!
Agree on the graffiti. That is some croc. I just have to wonder what Little Pixtura was up to. 🙂 –Curt
We do wonder how long it took to finish the croc!
It’s lovely to see all the happy faces – and Foxydog’s happy tummy!
Best graffiti I have ever seen!
Us too! The sheer scale of it is amazing.
We are from Lisbon, so we can give an insight on the graffiti…
It was conceived and painted by a professional artist. There are several works of graffiti art in Lisbon of similar nature (although none of such colossal size).
BTW this is just one of three buildings painted side by side!
😀
Had a suspicion that it was a little more than your usual graffiti! Shame courier M couldn’t get all three building in his shot. A great way to distract the eye from the sad condition of the buildings. Thanks very much for this insight.
LOve that crock painting!!
I need to visit more often. You always put a smile on my face! Foxydog looks very like my Buddy and I love the graffiti crock! I hate graffiti but he seems to fill a purpose by turning an otherwise abysmal, abandoned building into a work of comic art. Pure fun!
Totally agree with you about most graffiti but this is street art at its best.
Reunions are the best!
