While couriers J and M travel north from Spain, courier S has been delivering and collecting Animalcouriers passengers a little further north.
Gorgeous Whippet pup Obi was born in Staffordshire and has now reached his new home in Reichstett, in the Alsace area of France. Waiting to greet him were his great uncle, a champion Whippet; his cousin Nubie; and new friends Ricky and Jeff. It didn’t take long for Obi to feel right at home as he took ownership of the sofa. The other fellows thought this new playmate was the best Christmas present ever.
Travelling with Obi to the same home were 20 young Irish Fancy Canaries, a new breed of show birds which is gaining in popularity on the continent. Their breeder, Maurice, introduced them into the UK in 1990. He tells us that they were first accepted in 2008 as a true breed of canary, and that he expects that around 300 will be at the world show in the Netherlands in January next year. Didier plans to establish himself as a respected breeder of these canaries in France.
We then continued on to Allschwil in Switzerland to collect feline duo Luna and Jackson, who’re heading to Surrey. We were greeted by high-pitched howling from gorgeous black puss Luna who was protesting at having been put in her carry box. She continued to howl until we reached the end of the road and her owners were out of earshot. At that point she fell silent — her job of making her owners feel guilty done — and proceeded to travel like an angel all day!
Luna’s chum Jackson is a hunky fellow whose owners tell us he doesn’t always know when it’s time to stop eating! He’s a very soft and affectionate cat — and a very calming influence on Luna; and is spending the journey happily playing with his catnip toys. These two will homeboard with Animalcouriers until being reunited with their owners at the weekend, in good time for the festive season.
In the Netherlands we stopped off to collect splendid 15-month-old Enzo. Bred by ex-police officer Koos in Riethoven, Enzo has just graduated from security training and is now off to Bermuda via the UK.
