Driving towards the UK, collecting Etti, Boo, Isis, Barney and Jazz along the way

In Spain Animalcouriers collected Etti, short for Loretta. She was brought to us by Pilar, who is a mainstay at the dog pound in Roquetas de Mar, in the Almeria region. Etti has been adopted by Victoria and David, who met and fell for her while they were on holiday. It's all a big change for Etti, who's gone from a life of foraging on the streets, to dinner in a bowl and dental chews on a plate! Still in Almeria, we collected fluffy rabbit Boo In Vera. He belongs to Tamara, who's been working on advertising shoots but is [...]

Obi reaches his new home in France; Luna and Jackson swap Switzerland for Surrey; and Dutch Enzo is off to Bermuda

While couriers J and M travel north from Spain, courier S has been delivering and collecting Animalcouriers passengers a little further north. Gorgeous Whippet pup Obi was born in Staffordshire and has now reached his new home in Reichstett, in the Alsace area of France. Waiting to greet him were his great uncle, a champion Whippet; his cousin Nubie; and new friends Ricky and Jeff. It didn't take long for Obi to feel right at home as he took ownership of the sofa. The other fellows thought this new playmate was the best Christmas present ever. Travelling with Obi to [...]

Felipe and Louis reach Spain; where Rita, Bob, Winnie, Gypsy and Mellie join our trip

Lovely puppy Felipe travelled with Animalcouriers to the Madrid area to share Christmas with Sergio, Barbara and all the family. We quite understand why they didn't want to be apart from him — he's gorgeous! Louis, another young pup travelled with us to rejoin Morris, who's relocated from Scotland to the Nerja area. Louis is a big fellow, still learning about his weight and strength as he pulled courier M along on his walks. In Conil we called in to collect Staffie Rita and her pal Bob, a 14-year-old Labrador cross. After popping leads on them we spent a bit [...]

No TRACES requirement for pets travelling in the EU +5 days before or after their owners

A new EU pet travel scheme regulation was due to be introduced on 29 December 2014. It required dogs, cats and ferrets travelling between EU countries more than five days before or after their owners to be recorded on the Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES). This regulation has been withdrawn. Dogs, cats and ferrets just need a valid pet passport, even if they're travelling more than five days before or after their owners. However, pets being rehomed from one EU country to another with a change of ownership do need to be recorded on TRACES. See our blog from last month [...]

New-style pet passports and other EU pet travel scheme changes from 29 December

Some changes to the EU pet travel scheme come into effect on 29 December 2014. The changes aim to strengthen enforcement across the EU and improve the security and traceability of pet passports. We've outlined the main changes below and given links to more information. New-style pet passports A new-style pet passport is being introduced — but if you already have a passport for your pet, you don't have to get a new one. Existing passports will remain valid for the lifetime of your pet or until all the treatment spaces are filled. The new passport has laminated strips covering [...]

Five bearded dragons and two Maine Coons arrive in Germany

Five bearded dragons travelled with Animalcouriers from the UK to Frankfurt in Germany, where their owner is relocating. While she finalises her accommodation, her handsome dragons are staying with her sister and nephews. Sharing the journey with the dragons were gorgeous Maine Coon cats Rosie and Bella. Their new home is a little further north, in Bielefeld, where their owner was waiting to welcome them. The cats were quite vocal during the trip, with Rosie taking the role of back-seat driver particularly seriously! A beady look from one of the dragons We kept the dragons warm on [...]

Milo, Randolph and Louis travel to Ireland; Fifi and Bella reach Northampton; and John Dorian is reunited with Marta

Handsome ginger tabby Milo is on the final leg of his journey from Malta, where he was rescued from dockside life by Trevor. He'll shortly be arriving at his wonderful new home with Trevor and Ann in Donegal. Staffie Randolph is also on board — he's swapping Islington for Cork. This friendly, affectionate chap homeboarded with us before the journey started. He's not keen on being confined in any way — he would suddenly appear in an open doorway, looking for someone to play with! Standard Poodle Louis makes up the passenger list to Ireland. This very good-looking fellow flew [...]

Reunions in the UK for our European passengers; and Cherry has a new home

Many of the passengers from the latest Animalcouriers trip from southern Europe have reached their UK homes. German Shepherd Dog TomTom, who joined us in Portugal, is now back with his owner Chris. TomTom is still quite a youngster and very bouncy and tuggy on his walks. We improvised a 'haltie' from his lead and used training treats from Harringtons to get him used to the routine of going on the lead. These tasty treats were critical to the process — so thank you, Harringtons! Julia came to collect her ginger kitten Kyle. This was a holiday romance in Ibiza — [...]
