Animalcouriers recently welcomed King Charles Spaniel puppy Rhyss and 12-year-old Cocker Spaniel Billybob as homeboarders.
Young Rhyss stayed with us for a couple of days so that we could prepare him for his flight to Barbados. Despite being quite a young puppy, we found him to be a very placid and laid-back fellow, always ready for a chat or a play or to share his supper. We look forward to hearing how he settles in to his new life in the sun.
Billybob stayed with us for a little longer. He originally came to the UK from Australia with his owners Veronique and her husband a few years ago, and has been living in London ever since. Now the family is going back, so Billybob started the round of tests and paperwork that are required for pets to enter Australia.
Unfortunately he tested positive for a blood disorder, Ehrlichia, and Australia doesn’t permit dogs with this disease to enter the country — even when the dog originally came from Australia and could potentially have contracted the disease while living there.
So Veronique had quite a dilemma on her hands. Fortunately, however, a member of her family in Liege in Belgium has offered Billybob a new home. It’s a very happy arrangement and a huge relief for Veronique.
Billybob set off for Belgium today with Animalcouriers. Veronique will be in Liège to meet him and get him settled in, before she leaves for Australia.
