Animalcouriers arranged for gentle Greyhounds Gregory and Sadie to fly with Monarch to Cyprus to rejoin their owner who had gone on ahead to get everything ready for their arrival. We collected them in Devon and took care of their pre-flight health check. Because Greyhounds are tall and lanky, Gregory and Sadie had to have very large travel boxes to ensure they would be comfortable on the flight. The cargo-handlers at Gatwick airport were momentarily perplexed about how to get such big boxes loaded into the special hold on the aircraft, but they soon found a way. The flight went well and the dogs arrived safely in Cyprus.
Pickles the cat will shortly be on her way to Australia. We first met Pickles when she travelled with us by road from Gibraltar. This lively, chatty cat is staying with us until her paperwork is ready for her move to Perth, western Australia. Pets can no longer fly directly into Perth as the Western Australian Quarantine Station has been permanently closed because of the threat from bush fires during the summer months. Instead, they now have to land in Sydney or Melbourne. Pickles is due to travel to Sydney in late July and after her 10 days’ stay at Eastern Creek Quarantine, Animalcouriers will arrange for her to transfer to Perth. Pickles is a very outgoing and confident cat, so we feel certain she’ll take this jetting around the world in her stride.
Meanwhile we delivered Tex to his new home in Dublin, where he and his family were delighted to be reunited following their relocation from the Netherlands. Just one sniff of the sea air, and this 15-year-old dog was racing around like a young pup!
Then it was off to collect cheeky tri-colour cat Lacey, who’s making the move from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales to the equally stunning south coast. She’s homeboarding with us tonight, and tomorrow will bring a short stay at a cattery until her new home is ready.
