Max, Isabelle and Texas from Europe, a Great Dane rescue, and little Lola on a lap

Stunning feline duo Max and Isabelle are moving from Bamberg in Germany to Cambridgeshire. They belong to Kris who has a new forces posting at Lakenheath and, of course, Max and Isabelle are going too. After a short spell homeboarding locally, where they had a bedroom to themselves filled with toys, they crossed the channel yesterday evening with courier S and will stay with Animalcouriers until Kris has completed her move. It was a bit of a tight squeeze fitting a trip in for these cats but Kris has been very flexible about adjusting their travel plans.

Also relocating from mainland Europe is handsome black Labrador Texas — Tex to his friends. He is travelling with Animalcouriers from just north of The Hague in the Netherlands, to Dublin in Ireland. At 15 years of age this senior fellow is a seasoned traveller, and enjoyed listening to music and chatting with courier J on the first leg of his journey.

Meanwhile courier M collected a five-year-old Great Dane on his way back down from Scotland. This lovely lass was given up by her owners as, although they were able to care for her generally, her size meant they couldn’t control her properly, and she had a couple of encounters with other dogs. The very nice kennels where she’s been staying for a few months have been unable to rehome her, and so asked National Great Dane Rescue (NGDR) for help. Animalcouriers were called on to transfer her to NGDR’s terrific facility in Wiltshire.

The Great Dane we collected is very affectionate and in lovely condition. Because of her mistrust of other dogs, she'll need a special new home, but it will be worth it for whoever can offer her a place in their lives.

Look at those eyes on your kitty passengers 🙂 adorable..love Tex…naturally he reminds me of Forrest who at 11 is not quiet as senior yet much greyer hahaah and Lola is also adorable….I do hope the beautiful Dane finds a great home…Forrest only loves Doc and has the same mistrust of other dogs….he is still a great family dog and we would not swap him for anything 🙂 hugs and safe travels to all Fozziemum xx

Aren’t their eyes beautiful! Tex is a love and travelling so well – he does have a way to go before he matches Doc on the grey front! There is always a home for a family-oriented dog, even if they’re not great with other dogs – that can be worked on too.

I agree they can have a great life ..Forrest has the kitties the sheep and Doc he loves people..just never trusts other dogs…and he is still a great boy:) and yes it can be worked on also..as we have…his circumstances are quite unique so try as we have it won’t work..bless him..snoring his head off in front of the fire 🙂

Max reminds me that we had a white cat when we were growing up named MC. It came time to fix MC and our family didn’t have a lot of money. Our Italian neighbor suggested an Old Country approach and my dad bought into it. It was a recipe for disaster that involved a gunny sack, a pocket knife, twine, leather gloves and tinsnips. I leave the actual operation up to your imagination. MC escaped before any damage was done but never quite forgave us for the effort. 🙂 –Curt

These things are best left to the experts 😀

That seemed to be MCs position. Or better yet, not at all from his perspective. 🙂

Beautiful cats! Yes, makes sense they need to hear their humans’ native language. Tex looks like a handsome, happy fellow, too.

Glad that Dane is headed to a facility where she has a better chance of being placed in a good home with someone who can work with her. My heart goes out to all these special needs animals. In the right place, they can really blossom.

You are absolutely right about blossoming in the right place. She has a better chance now but it is so hard with extra large dogs.

Nice that there’s enough of Tex for both girls to hug without waiting for turns! 😀

It is important for the animals to understand the couriers – not always sure we get it right but the tone of voice certainly helps 😀

Those cats and those eyes. Beutiuful. Amazing that the lab is 15 years old. Most of the larger dogs don’t live that long. The family is blessed to have him and he is blessed to have a wonderful and oving family. As for the Great Dane, gee that always makes me so sad when a famly gives up on their pet. Anyone looking to adopt a large breed puppy MUST do their homework. With the right person/s she’ll make a loving pet. And the little dog is too cute for words.

    • Animalcouriers July 5, 2014 at 9:28 am - Reply

15 is indeed a great age for such a large dog. He’s in very good shape too. You’re absolutely right about doing your homework before you take on a large breed dog. They certainly aren’t suitable for everyone.
