Alan is a German Shorthaired Pointer (also known as a Kurzhaar) currently in the care of the wonderful Filozoikos Shelter in Athens, Greece. Kiki, Martha and the shelter volunteers are keen to find this delightful six-year-old dog a new home. They say he’s friendly towards people and other animals, very affection, and loves long walks and human companionship.
Kiki takes up Alan’s story:
“Alan was found in April 2013 wandering outside a supermarket in Nea Filadelfeia, sick and alone. He weighted just 22 kilos when we found him and he had obvious signs of leishmaniasis. He was a sorrowful creature who cried and was desperately seeking attention. He immediately started treatment for leishmaniasis and his transformation was amazing!
Now, Alan weights 39 kilos and he is a proud and beautiful animal again. He is very affectionate with people, when walking he is always paying attention to the volunteer. If you stop walking, he places his head on your hip and enjoys cuddles. He is friendly with other dogs, both male and female. If he gets to go on daily walks he doesn’t pull on the leash, but of course, due to his size, he needs a dynamic owner.
Alan was literally resurrected and is now looking for a second chance to live with a person or a family who will love and respect him. Can you give him a chance?”
