Weimaraner Jake is a regular Animalcouriers passenger who travels with us between Ireland and Estepona in the Malaga region of Spain. He’s a very calm character but is armed with the most amazing set of jaws that can shear through nylon leads as though they were strings of liquorice! While we were busy tidying his compartment, Jake reminded us of his superpower, and there’s photographic evidence to prove it.
Yellow Lab Deejay stayed with us for a few nights before setting off with us for Lisbon in Portugal. He was joined by Wally — who could almost be his twin — who travelled with us from south London to rejoin Maria in her home town near Bilbao.
Young Bella joined our trip in Lisbon and is heading to the south of England where she’ll rejoin her owner Zaina. Poor Zaina was a bit frazzled trying to keep to her busy schedule of appointments while closing up her apartment and seeing Bella off on her journey. Bella is a Labrador cross with perhaps a dash of German Shepherd thrown in. We were told she’s had some basic training but can still be a little naughty. She’s clearly a spirited young dog who’ll doubtless keep us on our toes!
At La Linea, near the border with Gibraltar, we went some way to maintaining the Yellow Lab quota when we met up with Leo and Tom. Leo is off to join his sister Lexi in the UK and Tom will be there when we arrive. Lexi had a litter of beautiful pups who are all now in their new homes. Tom is excited about having his two dogs back together again.
In Los Boliches we called in on Sharon and Matthew who run a bar with Bob. Bob takes his role as principal greeter and food taster very seriously. Bob had the good fortune to be found by Sharon in the street some five years ago. He’s now relocating to Lancashire where his hospitality skills will doubtless be called on frequently!
