Our European trip is underway at last, with Arfa, Guiseppe, Cookies, Chipie, Pod, Shadow, Emie and Eluka

The latest Animalcouriers trip to Europe finally got started last night, after a stop-start sort of a day. We reached Dover to find that P&O had made a considered decision to stop taking pets on their freight route. That left us feeling somewhat panicky until we had a chat with them at their Dover office, from which we came away feeling pleased and relieved to know that P&O still consider Animalcouriers an account partner, and that we could therefore get on board with our precious cargo.

Travelling with us are some wonderful dogs and cats including Staffie Arfa, who’s heading back to Spain with us. He originally travelled on one of our UK-bound trips last summer, and was a hot and stressed lad when we collected him. We had to call in at a garage and hose him down with cold water, as he was over-ventilating from anxiety. He soon cooled down and chilled out, and was right as rain and best mates with us by the time we delivered him to Matt in Kent.

Handsome Daxie Guiseppe belongs to Linda and Alejandro. They are off to live and work in Murcia in Spain, and Guiseppe is travelling with us to join them. He’s very well behaved, enjoys his walks, and loves a nap. Linda was a bit worried about him but we feel there is no need!

Very bonded pair Cookies and Chipie are travelling with us to France, as their owners are leaving Brighton and returning to Florensac in the Languedoc region. Grandmère will be meeting us to take these two cuties home.

On the cat front we have gorgeous tabby cat Pod, who arrived a day or so before we left. He’s off to join his family who are moving to the Gers region of France. While they get their new home ready, Pod will be staying with Jennifer at the Chatil de Lomagne cattery in the Garonne.

Little black Shadow, who belongs to Antonio, is also on board. Antonio is off to live in Seville in Spain, and Shadow is going on ahead to join Antonio’s girlfriend Victoria.

Lovely feline duo Emie and Eluka are heading to the Grenoble area of France. We are working with our partners Airpets to provide them with a road trip. Emie and Eluka were originally due to travel last month, but it was discovered on the handing-in day at Airpets that their rabies vaccinations had expired, so it’s been a three-week wait until they could be on their way.

Owing to the delay in crossing the Channel, we only made it as far as Cambrai (in Nord Pas de Calais) last night, so today will be quite a long one.

Thanks Sammy, it wasn’t really the start to the trip we’d have hoped for but all’s well that ends well!

You’re right Easy, it seems to be a practice round for Arfur but we’re sure he’ll pull out a perfect score soon!

Wonderful collection of beautiful globe trotting babies. I doubt my three black cats would be so serene. You must have magical powers.

Kind of you to say so but cats either start off serene and continue so or hide out until they get used to the schedule 😉 Your darlings would settle if they had to move.

Kind of scary thinking you may be left in the port. Good news the freight company came around. Terrific photos.that capture the animals’ personalities.

It does help having history and relationships with travel companies but we hate it when changes are sudden and unreported. The characters are coming through quickly with this crew!

That Arfa has the most adorable face.
Guiseppe is quite a handsome fella or quite a beauty if she is girl.
Gentle Giant Pod looks like another version of grump cat to me 🙂
and Chipie and Cookie are just the cutest little critters. Those two are real heart stealers.
Shadow is almost the spitting image of my Ali.
Safe travels with all of you sweet buddies.

Ohhhh! I am almost crying to see Shadow!! I miss her a lot!!! At least I am really satisfied with your services, I know that she’s in good hands. You guys definitely know how to take care of them 🙂 !! I really appreciate your really big effort doing this. Thanks and I am just looking forward to see my little Shadow!!

Hi Antonio! Shadow is doing well on the trip. Still not too keen about photos but travelling well 😉 Won’t be long now.

What a cool collection of names! My mum wants to get a dog to live with us on the boat… I do NOT want one. She thinks something small and cute like Guiseppe would be purrfect but I think they’re nice to admire from afar!

    • Animalcouriers April 30, 2014 at 11:15 am - Reply

Well, there are pluses about dogs Bailey but it would have to be a small one for Nocturne 😉 Think of all the things you could blame on a dog 😀

Switched browsers and can’t seem to get the like button to work. *Like*
You know I fell in love with Chipie and Cookies… despite the fact that their names created an urge to nosh on something I shouldn’t. 🙂

Aaahhh, tell us about browsers and how things sometimes work! Yes, their names do plant something in the subconscious 😀

I am glad the P&O have their priorities right for their partners.

    • Animalcouriers April 30, 2014 at 11:19 am - Reply

It was a relief to get it all cleared up especially as P&O are very thorough about checking paperwork and do make sure all animals are travelling legally.

Wow, quite a full house you have going there. Glad you finally got underway.

The kind of hiccup we could do without but just a little time lost in the end.

Gee that was/is quite a trip especially with the P & O scare. The dogs are too cute especially Coookie. Just adorable. Love the orange/brownish tabby with the its flattened ears. A sign of feeling threatened and of being very anxious. They are all very handsome dogs and cats.

Cookie made us smile, such a cutie. Pod managed to look grumpy for the rest of the trip!

I was just thinking how wonderful it would be if all cats & dogs could have owners like the ones you meet

We'd love to hear from you
