Lia is travelling with Animalcouriers from Greece to the UK. Lia had the good fortune to be rescued by Jo, who went the extra mile to help her get well and is now eagerly awaiting her arrival. Jo tells us the story of how she found and adopted Lia:
“We were having dinner near Lia beach, and I saw a young cat feeding three kittens, all different ages. Just one was hers. The other two were very young and obviously sick and orphaned. So I took the one in worst shape to the vet, who said she had a respiratory virus which had caused her to have a bacterial infection in her eyes. Sadly, her eyes were damaged beyond repair and the vet didn’t think she would make it. So she had to be put down.
I rushed out to get the other one, and the vet said he thought with IV antibiotics and drops applied every four hours we might be able to save one of her eyes. So I changed my flight so I could take care of her and we did manage to save the eye! It’s taken a while for Lia to come out of her shell but by the time I left her she was happily playing and purring away. I can’t wait to see her again!”
What a dear story and a wonderful chance given to a sweet kitty by a very generous soul. I love that kind of happy ending….and I’m sure Lia will be VERY happy to be reunited with the kind person who gave her a chance to enjoy the rest of her life instead of just barely surviving.

Hi Animal Couriers, I have just read your news of Little Lia and her arrival in the UK and just wanted to say, not knowing where Jo lives, if Lia needs any help with her eyes there is just about the best vet eye specialist at North Downs Referrals in Surrey who has helped us a great deal with rescued cats
