At Famagusta port we checked in, claimed our tickets for the ferry, and went through passport control. It was all going swimmingly until we got to customs.
The log book for Janet’s car is in joint names with her husband, who isn’t travelling on this trip. Customs’ view was that Janet could be taking the car out of North Cyprus without his permission.
So thinking quickly on our feet, we reconvened our party and are now all travelling in just two vehicles: Diana’s car and the Animalcouriers van.
Phew!! One stage down!! Everything still crossed for the other end of the ferry ride!!
Yes, that’s the bit we do need the real luck with 😉
I think I’ve been holding my breath…. are we in the clear yet?
Nope – believe it or not, it’s the other end of this small journey that holds all the cards…
Close call and quick thinking! Cheers to the crew and your precious charges
Honestly – we are testing all possible eventualities on this journey 😉
Go Team Animal Couriers – we are hoping you have a smooth ride and make it through now without any more issues! 🙂
Thanks Red Man – this saga runs and runs and we’ll know in an hour or two if we’ve won…
Yay! You’re beating them – can’t keep a good courier down!
Nearly, nearly!
Oh we do hope to hear a POSITIVE conclusion to this trip…..for ALL concerned!!!
Pam and Sam
We think we’re nearly there…!
It’s hard to write with crossed fingers!
😀
Are you through the Turkish border control yet?
We’ll let you know as soon as we are! Lots of paperwork still to go through but it’s looking good…
I can hear an imaginary drumroll – I will cross my paws for this travel.
Think the drummer went to sleep!
But would they have said the same thing if Janet’s husband was taking the car without Janet instead? Good grief. Thank goodness you’re on your way!
In a male dominated society like that, doubt it very much 🙁
Good heavens!! I imagine you won’t want to take this trip anytime soon!
It won’t be high on our list, that’s for sure!
Cheers and a good time was had by all- sort of. 🙂
You have to make the best of these situations 😉
Wow there sure are some difficult rules to navigate over there!!!
