The last time we visited North Cyprus KAR was just moving into new premises housing their office, an additional shop and a new veterinary clinic. Remodelling was underway and they were still surrounded by unpacked boxes (think anyone who’s ever moved house knows that feeling!). Now, the transformation is complete.
They have also developed a pet travel service, that draws on the knowledge and experience they’ve gained from providing advice on an ad-hoc basis over the years. Now, they offer a comprehensive service that also helps to fund their work with abandoned and street animals. They can help owners arrange air freight for cats and small-to-medium sized dogs leaving North Cyprus — for now, the planes that fly out of North Cyprus can’t take large travel boxes, so bigger dogs still have to travel by road. As well as arranging all the paperwork, KAR can supply travel boxes. They even have samples in their office so that you check which size your dog or cat needs!
And in the last day or so, more good news for KAR. The $1,800 raised by Santa Paws arrived and is already earmarked to improve the drainage at their rescue centre in the hills. Every time there’s a deluge of rain the centre floods and the dogs end up slipping around in the mud. Improving the drainage will make a huge difference to the dogs’ lives. Santa Paws also sent $1,000 worth of toys, which have been distributed to the dogs. The puppies in particular are having a great time playing tug o’ war and other games that only puppies understand. Thanks to everyone who donated to the Santa Paws drive.
