Yesterday Animalcouriers delivered British Bulldog Winston, Lola and Roxy into the waiting arms of their mum and dad on Zakynthos. We had to turn round pretty sharp and get straight back on the ferry out of town, so there was no chance to explore what looks like a lovely island, but the journey goes on!
Unfortunately, our plans to catch a ferry to Chios last night were dashed by cancellations. So we spent the night in Kyllini and are now en route to Piraeus. The dogs enjoyed the bonus of a chance to explore a secluded beach this morning in much cooler conditions than yesterday.
Three charmers, eh? 🙂
My dad left from Piraeus in 1919 to come to the United States. Appreciated the photos, especially the one at the top.
That was a jolly long time ago! Hope we can do better with the rest of the shots from Greece 😉
Looks like a brisk walk was in order on this beach…tougher shells?
Not exactly cold – just a lot cooler than yesterday 😉 Very fine sand – just a lot of debris brought in by rough seas.
Great to see…tail waggers having fun and new smells 🙂
Never a dull moment for these sniffers on their walks 😀
I can imagine hehehe so many smells in the air and so much different mental stimulation, must be overwhelming for the senses! 🙂
I’ll bet Winstons parents are super happy now to have him back. I would like a walk on this beach too – think your passengers are pleased :o)
They’re delighted to have all three back! The dogs loved the walk this morning – not too hot and LOADS of whiffs to sniff 😀
My basset hound, Socrates, absolutely loved wild beaches. But then he loved the mountains as well. I guess he was a lot like me. (grin)
Oooh, Bassett Hounds – yummy. Emphasis on wild then 😉
Everything wild… (grin) While he never dug up our yard, he loved to dig out in the woods. I felt like I had to file an environmental impact report.
But think of the treasure he unearthed. Prospecting as only dogs can do…
He was a dog of passion and curiosity. I once found him perched on the edge of an ocean cliff with his tail hanging over a 100 foot cliff as he dug for treasure. Another time I found him out on a ledge with his nose pressed into a crack in granite barking a basset hound bark at a nest of buzzing rattle snakes. I had to crawl out and get him.
Oh dear, did you grab hold of his tail and pull? Can’t imagine getting to close to that treasure.
The tail might have created more problems than it solved. (grin) But it was definitely a collar grabbing event. Soc had a one track hound-mind. I am sure you know the type. Curt
Do you ever have places where you can let the dogs go for a run and a romp? I’m supposed to keep Sissy on a leash at our beaches, but when there’s no one around, I often let her run loose and enjoy her crazy antics. We’ve worked on recall and that’s gone quite well, so it doesn’t seem to be a problem.
Oh, if only! Sadly there aren’t places that are secure (ie fenced in) or we’d love to. Now, our own dogs – that’s an entirely different matter 😉
I thought of that. I’d be reluctant to try it with a pup I didn’t know pretty thoroughly, too. The responsibility issues are mind boggling.
They are (!) but as long as you’re advised of any particular issues with dogs, you all settle into a safe routine.
Well done getting the doggies home & good luck for the remainder of the journey!!! Amazing as always!!!!
Sherri-Ellen & Nylablue too.
Thanks you two! Holding our breath now we have to try to enter Turkey…
Fingers & paws crossed here in Canada for you!!! Hopefully things will go smoothly…..let’s think ‘pawsitive’ 😉
All positive energy greatly appreciated 😀
WE are full of ‘pawsitivity’ here!!! Things will go well….:)
We hope things go well! That’s quite a crew of cuties. Hope you are all well!
Piggy kisses,
Katie and Coccolino the mini pig
Thanks Katie & Cocco – wind is causing headaches for the latest sailing 🙁
The dogs look to be happy campers. That means that you all take really good care of your charges. Just wonderful.
Thanks – they’re all fit and happy but will be pleased to make it to their new homes soon 😉
