We spent last night at a delightful small rural hotel just outside the Italian port of Ancona. The parking was good and we had a lovely space to walk the dogs.
The overcast and rainy conditions that have accompanied us throughout this trip so far are still with us, but perhaps it will be a different story once we reach Greece.
British Bulldog Winston is a dog after courier M’s own heart and just loves his bed. It’s a bit of an effort to get him to come out for a walk and he doesn’t want to hang about and once he’s finished his business — just wants to get back to his bed. We are very mean though and keep him walking for a while!
Bruno is a big softy and a bit of a worrier. On the advice of his owners we paired him with Issy to keep him calm. We have never seen a dog hoover food so quickly! Luckily we were warned to feed him away from other dogs as we’re sure he would whip everyone else’s grub otherwise! When walking he is quite manic for a few moments but as the journey has progressed he has got used to the routine and is now quite calm.
Wow that is quite a few travelers – all adorable.
It is a big passenger list on the outward journey this time. All wonderful characters.
They all are wonderful – but this Winston won my heart.
I loved Winston the Bulldog.
He reminds me of Tom and Jerry
Ha ha – he does have that look about him.
Dear Winston is a card!
I love how you respect each animal’s quirks and try to make them as comfortable as possible. I would trust my Max with you – and believe me there are very few people I would say that about!
Hi Linda – that is incredibly kind of you to say! We get to know our passengers really well on these long trips and it is important that they are as comfortable as possible. We and they settle into a routine which suits us all.
BOL, look at Winstons grumpy face 🙂 xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
I think he’s awesome. He seems to have the right attitude. ^^
You’re so right – Winston has exactly the right attitude!
It is a natural and very dignified look, he’ll have you know 😀
You certainly have your hands full on this trip! Lovely animals one and all.
It’s an unusually busy outward trip. They’re all lovely and so different from each other 😉
Thanks for the huge smile that the shot of Lola elicited! That hairdo is… unique! 😀 What a crew you have this time. I think I got just a teeny taste of the complications with finding walking spots and places to stay on my latest trip. I also discovered that Sissy absolutely doesn’t like to do her ‘business’ in gravel or rocks. We ran into a few spots like that up in the mountains… high desert doesn’t always allow for nice grass.
Dogs can be very specific about where and when they will ‘go’. We’re getting rather good a finding places that suit everyone but some it will take longer to suit than others 😉
Now Lola is a showgirl and as such has come to expect the treatment that is her right as a diva. Have you had any other specials demands for her compartment yet?
So far we seem to be matching Lola’s demands quite well!
That’s a lot to handle. Good for you.
There are quite a few larger dogs on this trip but all doing so well. They’ve settled into the trip routine quickly.
Quite a few traveling companions, and what a mixture of personalities. Did I see that right—two Winstons? Must be the “in” name at the moment. My niece named her late tortoise Winston. It’s a fine name.
They are a great bunch! Winston is the ‘in’ name on this trip but it’s a great name for any animal 😉
Winston! WIIIINSTOOON! Love that face!
Thought you might 😀
All the dogs are so lovely; each so unique!!!
Love Spangle & Toffee…they ARE troopers I’ll give them that!!!
As for the ferry: WOWSERS!!!! That is one big ferry!!!!! How many vehicles can it hold???
The one I used to take here holds 143 vehicles & alot of people….
Happy trails to all of you!!
P.S.: Kiss Lola for me…she is such a dainty Diva!!!
Sherri-Ellen & Nylablue too..
Yes, Spangle and Toffee are troopers – not exactly delighted to be where they are but hanging in there, just waiting for it to be over 😉 The ferries are enormous. Don’t know how many cars exactly but hundreds for sure and lots and lots of lorries! Dear Lola is now home having lots of kisses from her peeps.
I can’t imagine how the cats travel such great distances!!! Dogs are always up for a ‘road trip’; cats not so much, lol!!!!
Hundreds of cars on the ferry!!! WOW!!! That is awesome!!!
I am glad Lola has reached her home & is safe!!! She really is a cutie!!!
All the best on your trip…
Sherri-Ellen.
Lola just cracks me up, I’m not sure why…maybe cause she just looks surprised or frazzled. Glad to see you were able to board a ferry with your precious cargo. The two Winston’s couldn’t be any more different looking LOL. I used to work at a Garden Centre with a Winston. He was lovely, I took him two cookies everyday. One for when I arrived and one for when I wanted to eat my lunch without drool on my shoe, HA
She does have an air of perpetual surprise! Winston is a great name – love your way of getting round the slobber 😉
