Look out for animal scams via Facebook

We received an email from Louise who unfortunately fell victim to a puppy scam via Facebook. Once she found our 'beware of scams' page on the Animalcouriers website, she realised her experience bore all the hallmarks people need to look out for in many types of scam: A sob story A free puppy, with just the transport costs to pay Being rushed into a decision with lots of hassling phone calls and emails Payment required via MoneyGram, with a payee address in Cameroon A phone number to call that looks like a UK mobile number (starts 07, in this case [...]

Top ten tongues quiz — and the winners are…

Thanks to everyone who entered our quiz. We had great fun reading everyone's responses, not just the answers but also your funny, imaginative and touching comments. First things first, our apologies for this late post — and here are the answers: 1 = Phaidon  2 = Caesar  3 = Miggins  4 = Canico  5 = Lobo (and in our minds the best tongue of them all)  6 = Phaidra  7 = Bella  8 = Harry  9 = Chloe  10 = Mojo Now, onto the winners: because we originally made a mistake and repeated the name Phaidon instead of giving the [...]

Kessra discovers a taste for a special drink

Kessra, formerly known as Caesar, travelled with us on a recent trip from Greece to the UK. He'd been taken care of at the Filozoikos Shelter in Athens, and was adopted by Helen and John in Suffolk. Although a somewhat nervous fellow at first, Helen and John and their other two dogs have clearly worked rapid miracles and Kessra now seems to be thoroughly enjoying his new life. John reports: "It is with great regret that we will have to return Kessra!! On Sunday I left my rum and milk on the table and Kessra started to drink it! What taste [...]

Smiling Archie is moving from Greece to the UK

We'll be collecting Archie in May when we visit Greece. His owner Terri says she was desperate, as they were due to travel back to the UK, and she hadn't found a way to get Archie back too. Archie is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Staffies are very sensitive dogs who can react very strongly to travelling by air, so Terri was keen to find a way of getting him home by road, which is how he'll travel with Animalcouriers. Terri says that Archie adopted her when she lived in England before. His then owner couldn't keep him and rehomed him [...]

Ermione’s big adventure

This little blue-cream Persion cat has had an awfully big adventure. Ermione flew into Heathrow last night from Northern Cyprus. At the Heathrow Animal Reception Centre she had a lovely rest, and something to eat and drink — and then very early this morning Animalcouriers collected her for the last leg of her journey. We drove her to Suffolk where her new home is in Ipswich. She's already delighted to have the run of the house, but is having to get used to carpets — in Cyprus the floors were all marble! A big hug for Ermione [...]

From Sunderland to Sussex with Ruva

Animalcouriers transported gorgeous Rhodesian Ridgeback Ruva from Sunderland to Sussex. Ruva's poor owner had to make the heart-wrenching decision to rehome her. Fortunately she found her a new home with Jean in Sussex who already owns Zanta, another beautiful Ridgeback. Within just a few days of Ruva's arrival, Jean wrote to say: "Ruva has settled in very well and absolutely adores Zanta. They play well together, sleep together and thoroughly enjoy things. She has settled in beautifully and I am sure a lot of this is due to the fact that you gave her such wonderful care on the journey. Your service is [...]

Pepito is waiting for us in Greece

Pepito belongs to Alexander, who has already moved to the UK. Alexander's mum has been looking after Pepito in the meantime. Now Pepito is booked to travel with Animalcouriers from Greece in May. Alexander tells us he's had a lot of trouble persuading his mum to part with Pepito! We all agree it's hardly surprising, as Pepito is very cute indeed. On the other hand, perhaps she thinks Alexander won't visit her any more once Pepito has moved to the UK! Pepito
