STOP PRESS: Pet passport rules are changing from 1 January 2012

From 1 January 2012, the pet passport rules are changing. Your dog, cat or ferret won’t have to wait so long before it can enter the UK from an EU country. And although your pet will still need to be microchipped and vaccinated against rabies, it won’t need a blood test.

The Defra website gives more details.

This is excellent news for all EU animals. The blood test has been such a huge barrier for animal owners returning to the UK.

We do really welcome this news.

We all feel that the best place for all pets is with their owners. Relocating can be difficult, but when there is the added complication for pets that cannot travel at the same their owners it adds another dimension to the stress and worry.

We expect to be as busy as ever. Knowing that pets are not going to have to be separated from their owners for long periods of time is just brilliant.

Great news and not before time. Six /Seven months is a large chunk of dogs lives and shouldn’t have to be spent in quarantine kennels.

We'd love to hear from you
