Delivering pets in Switzerland and Italy, and collecting new passengers on our way back to the UK

We set off from the UK with a sweet pup and a gorgeous cat on board; and made the return trip with a passenger list of six dogs, two pups and a grande dame cat. Betsy Lovely Cocker Spaniel pup Betsy spent the night with courier S before the trip began, and enjoyed an evening stroll around the farm. Her new home is in the beautiful Lippiano hills near Florence Those puppy dog eyes! Betsy on arrival at her new Italian home, sporting her best collar and lead Betsy meeting her new playmate [...]

Collections and reunions in the UK, before we set off for France and Italy

Here at Animalcouriers we have two trips on the go: this one carrying passengers to France and Italy, and the other one dedicated to pets from Greece (we'll update you on that trip shortly). But before setting off for France, we travelled as far as Scotland to collect and deliver pets. Winnie We collected fluffy Pomeranian Winnie in London, who's relocating to New Zealand. She travelled with us to Sussex, where she'll have a short stay in kennels until she flies to Auckland in August. Her owner has flown on ahead to get everything ready and is already excitedly planning [...]

Meet Gia and Olli, Lucy and Katia, Poe and Obi — and a rabbit called Stitch

Animalcouriers recently drove a pair of Rhodesian Ridgebacks from Sweden to France; a pair of cats from Germany to the UK, and collected a rabbit at Schiphol airport who'd flown in from Dubai. Guanajuato (Gia) and Olwyna (Olli) Mother and daughter Rhodesian Ridgebacks Gia and Olli travelled with us from their winter home near Stockholm in Sweden, to their summer residence near Nice in the south of France. It's a longish drive, but mum Gia is a little too anxious to fly, so a comfortable road trip at a pace the dogs can both enjoy is much more relaxing all [...]

Muddle and Lilli swap the UK for Sweden

While couriers J and M round up UK-bound passengers in Portugal and Spain, courier S set off in a more northerly direction, heading for Sweden. On board were cats Muddle and Lilli, collected from a cattery in Stoke on Trent, where they stayed while their owners went on ahead to prepare for their arrival. Care instructions and character descriptions accompanied these two beauties. The top tip was that both cats love having a fuss, so courier S has been dishing out plenty of cuddles. After crossing the Channel, they stopped at Calais for the night, then had a clear day [...]

Delivering pets in Italy and Greece, with a delightful ferry crossing in between

Animalcouriers crossed from the Italian port of Brinidisi to Igoumenitsa in Greece on a handsome new ferry, operated by the European Management & Marine Company (EMMC), who are based at Igoumenitsa. We met Mrs Emmy, who heads up the company's marketing function — she remembered us from a few years ago when we first started operating our Greek route, and she was working for Hellas Ferries, our Athens agent. She recalled the problems and challenges we faced back then, and we discussed how good and friendly our partnership is today. We have all the right paperwork, and they ask us [...]

Meeting new passengers in Portugal and Spain; and we mark Ascension by staying at a convent

Animalcouriers met up with three super cats and a cheeky Cocker Spaniel who're all travelling with us to the UK. Ginger Emma is moving to Montrose in Scotland from her home town of Chiclana de la Frontera, in south west Spain, and we're transporting her cat Ginger for her. Ginger is a very lucky cat. He was found on the streets and taken to a cat charity, where Emma met him and decided to adopt him, and now he is quite firmly her boy! Emma told us she had found our travel blog very comforting, reading about the pets. She [...]

Happy reunions in Spain; and now we head on to Portugal

Animalcouriers had the pleasure of reuniting our Spain-bound passengers with their owners. The Spanish relay team hit on a novel training regime Wild flowers spotted in the Pamplona region: orchids… …more orchids… …another orchid… … and beautiful yellow gorse, a sure sign of spring Molly and Lacey To help speed our journey to Javea, we arranged (with owner Elise's agreement) for our colleagues at AutoMascotas to take Molly and Lacey the rest of their journey to rejoin her in Palencia. Courier M (L) about to hand little Lacey over [...]

Two bespoke trips: Bublik from Juan les Pins; and a family of six from Devon

In addition to our regular, shared road trips throughout Europe, Animalcouriers is also sometimes asked to do a bespoke trip, where we transport a pet (or group of pets) belonging to one family. Last week we collected tiny Bublik from storm-struck Juan les Pins in south-east France, to take him to his winter residence in London, where his owner is waiting for him. Completely oblivious to the weather conditions, Bublik set off on his travels very calmly. So calmly, in fact, he was sound asleep and snoring before we'd even left the driveway! Today it was the turn of a [...]

We leave the UK with three cats; and start our trip back from Greece with 11 dogs, 11 cats, a Macaw and a Chinchilla on board

Couriers M and Mike recently set off on what will be our biggest-ever trip from Greece back to the UK. Luckily we have two vans, each with air conditioning, electrical airflow and comfy compartments for all the pets travelling with us. A few pets travelled out with us from the UK. Gorgeous Gaia and Lulu, a pair of cats who are almost impossible to tell apart, are moving with Eric to Italy. We dropped them at a cattery in Verona for Eric to collect on his arrival. Gaia gives us a wink Lulu has a fine 'milk [...]
