Leaving the UK with five dogs and four cats

Couriers J and M set off from the UK with five dogs and four cats on board who are joining their families in France and Italy. Tess and Sausage Basset Hound Tess and Sausage the Spaniel belong to Steve and his family, who've moved to Clermont l'Herault in the Languedoc region of France. We collected the dogs from Rita in Dorset, who took care of them for a few days while the family went on ahead to roll out the red carpet. What a great pair of characters these two are Rita told us she would miss [...]

Transporting cats from France to the UK

Courier Richard recently made a couple of trips transporting cats from France to the UK. Grizzly Grizzly (so named because as a kitten he looked like a little bear) and his family have swapped Marseille for London. Owners Jane and Ian had to leave Marseille before Grizzly could travel, so they asked their neighbour Eric to take care of him. But Grizzly must have heard we were on our way, because he disappeared! Jane flew to Marseille in the hope of luring him back, but there was no sign of him. So our courier left empty handed. Fortunately, the second attempt [...]

Roundup of news about recent passengers: Castor, Jim, Haricot, Rubble, Tara and Rocco

We have a few snippets of news about some recent passengers from our last trip round southern Europe. And just before couriers M and J set off on that trip, courier Richard did a quick channel hop to France to meet a young fellow called Castor. Castor It was a sunny Saturday in April when courier Richard popped over to the heart of Paris to collect Castor, a two-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel‎. Castor, who belongs to Matthew, was a model passenger, jumping happily out of his bedroom for a walk, then hopping straight back in and snoozing his way up [...]

Heading to the UK with five dogs from Spain

On board as we head towards the UK are five dogs from Spain. They're a great bunch of playful, friendly characters who all love their walks. Rocco In the port town of Tarifa — a mecca for sand surfers — we met up with Franciska, who arrived the night before from Morocco with lovely little Rocco, who she rescued from the streets. Franciska was working in Morocco when she found herself adopted by Rocco, and couldn't leave her behind. It's quite complicated transporting dogs from Morocco, and they'd had to wait a while for Rocco's travel documents to come through. [...]

Pets travelling to France, Spain and Portugal

Animalcouriers set off from the UK with a fine collection of pets travelling to France, Portugal and Spain. Sid Border Terrier Sid originally travelled with us from Spain to England, to rejoin owner Tracey. Now Tracey's circumstances have changed and Sid is moving to Normandy to live with Stephen. Stephen is very pleased to receive Sid — his last dog was a Jack Russell, so he's very used to terriers. Tracey giving cute Sid a goodbye cuddle A warm welcome for Sid from Stephen. Breakfast was waiting for Sid when we went into the house. [...]

A quick round trip to the Republic of Ireland

Animalcouriers is finding that many pets are moving between England and the Republic of Ireland, so we've set up a regular route. Courier Richard made the most recent trip, taking a cat on the way out, and coming back with a dog. We also received news of Maggie, a rescue dog who travelled with us from Greece four years ago. Herman We collected friendly tabby cat Herman in Leeds from Weronika. With a busy job as a radiographer, Weronika felt that Herman wasn't getting the attention he deserved. So Herman is off to live with Andrzej, Weronika's former housemate who's [...]

Pets fly to Kuwait, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia

Animalcouriers recently organised for pets to fly to Kuwait, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. Bridget the Midget to Kuwait On a wet morning in London, Animalcouriers met tiny Yorkshire Terrier Bridget and her owner Jody off the train from north-east England. We arranged for Bridget’s Defra export certificate to be completed, then her paperwork was whisked into London to be legalised by the Kuwaiti Embassy. Jody got in touch to say: "Legislation changes / documentation requirements etc, an absolute nightmare of paperwork to be sorted. I left all of this to the Animalcouriers team. No problems at all, and Bridget [...]

A few days later, he travelled to Denmark and Sweden, then home via Hamburg. Juno and Bob This stunning pair of Bengal cats travelled to Berlin, where owners Delia and Craig have relocated from Newcastle upon Tyne. Both cats were perfect — even regal — passengers. Meeting more UK-bound pets as we travel through Italy

With all our Greek passengers safely on board, we caught the ferry across to Italy to start our journey back to the UK. During the crossing, we were able to park our van in a nice open spot with plenty of ventilation to keep everyone cool Stella Our first stop was at Sabrina's dog hotel in Brindisi to collect Patrizia's dog Stella, who's on her way to Wokingham. The hotel is a lovely place for dogs to stay, with shady compounds, and secure bedrooms. Everything is well designed to keep the dogs comfortable during hot summers (when it [...]
