Nine Lives Greece is run by a group of volunteers, all of whom have a background in animal welfare, to take care of the innumerable cats that scrape an existence on the streets of Athens.

Every day the group feeds around 200 stray and abandoned cats. They also work with local vets to provide routine care, vaccinations and parasite treatments, and care for ill and injured cats.

Wherever possible, Nine Lives tries to find caring, responsible homes for as many of the cats and kittens as they can, whether in Greece or further afield. Animalcouriers is on the way to Athens to bring Molly, Madge, Bobs, Ilios and Rupert to their new homes in the UK.

At the same time, we’re collecting another dog, Fifi, from the Filozoikos Shelter in Athens.

Here is blind Ilios at his Greek foster home. Despite being blind, he’s very active and rarely stays still long enough for a photo to be taken!
