More about the Romanian UnderDogs

As mentioned in our earlier blog, Animalcouriers is collecting 10 Romanian street dogs who’ve been rescued by Deb and her friends at Romanian UnderDogs. This organisation is arranging for these dogs to be brought to the UK for rehoming. They do home checks before the dogs are adopted, and will monitor the dogs’ progress.

Deb explains the Romanian UnderDogs’ mission and how they work:

The team at Romanian UnderDogs is working directly with the Cristina Lapis Shelter in Brasov, Romania, to ensure that the ‘underdogs’ at the shelter who never get the chance to be re-homed in other parts of Europe get that opportunity in the UK.

We are working with three UK rescue partners — Wiccaweys Rescued Border Collies, Oakwood Canine Services and Ruff Luck — to ensure these dogs are not overlooked just because they are older, disabled, have health issues, are deemed ugly by some unseeing people, are judged too large, wrong colour, shy, or just need a little extra TLC.

These dogs are offered full backup for life via our collective work, so never again will they find themselves alone and frightened and with no place to go.

If you’d like to adopt a dog via Romanian UnderDogs, or perhaps make a donation towards the work we do, or even maybe volunteer some time to us or our partners, then please visit our website at www.romanianunderdogs.com or email us at info@romanianunderdogs.com

And as Sarah, from Wiccaweys Rescued Border Collies says:

Some of the dogs are coming to Wiccaweys Rescued Border Collies, rescue partners to The Romanian UnderDogs. If anyone is interested in offering a Romanian dog a new home, please visit our website at: www.wiccaweys.co.uk. Looking forward to seeing M & R on Monday with the travelling woofers!

I have a Romanian rescue (Samo) and he is the most sociable, friendly dog I have ever had the pleasure of owning. He is fab with other dogs and a gentleman to walk. Go on, give one of these deserving dogs the chance of a happy life………… they have waited way to long and in some cases suffered dreadfully at the hand of humans. Show them that we can be trusted and that they ARE our best friends.

Hi Pat – great to hear your experience with rescue dogs. We hear so many stories from families who have adopted animals from seriously deprived backgrounds and it makes your heart warm to read about how well they settle and what super lives they lead in their new homes.

Hi Rita, thanks for more feedback on how these rescue dogs settle in to life in a house, with other dogs and a family. Heart warming 😉

We'd love to hear from you
