Happy chappie Rocky is still smiling away. As we walked around Calais, he had something to say to everyone he met.

“I’m off to Atlanta, you know, and I’ve come all the way from Italy,” he told them. “Do they eat pizza in the US? I’d love a slice of pizza,” he said to anyone who’d listen.

This is a very special trip: Rocky isn’t allowed into the UK because he doesn’t have a pet passport. So he’s travelling under a special license, and will spend tonight and tomorrow at the Animal Reception Centre at London Heathrow, where he’ll be well looked after.

On Monday he’ll be collected by the Continental handlers and will set off for Newark, and then head on to his waiting family.

Rocky’s a lovely, robust little dog who’s having a great adventure. Everyone’s working hard to make sure he has a stress-free trip.

Bon voyage, Rocky, and make sure you send us a postcard!
